Can't the guy feel responsible for a friend (after all it was his request that prompted her disappearance), without many of the romantic connotations some people try to imply? I mean, really, does it change anything? At least he's showing what he feels, instead of keeping it all inside, bottled up...

No, I'm afraid that's impossible for Leyfon. He is simultaneously in love and not in love with every member (female and male) of the cast. He's sorta like the Schrodinger cat of love.

Ok episode, but I can see the build up for the next few episodes in this one...

I agree with the above posters as to Layton's feelings. I think he would feel this way if it was Felli or any of the other platoon members. Maybe abit more toward Nina because she came to his rescue before, but I wouldn't send out wedding invitations because he's feeling distraught that she's missing...

Plus a quick comment on how Leerin may be like Mayshen in some aspects. Boob wise yes, but she's not timid or passive like her. Episode one showed that, and I doubt Leerin will stand by and let others have at him...

Layfon actually depressed about Nina's disapearance because he failed to protect someone who important to him(his friend/captain...with anime-Layfon i can't think about more). We all know that Layfon is quite dense...it's proved again when he's almost unaffected by Felli's indirect confession.

It may look that way, though i totally disagree with what you're saying. We know by now that Fonfon has his own way of dealing with these sort of situations, including a person's feelings for him. It's displayed here yet again.

Indeed, that's what i'm talking about. He has his own unique way of dealing with situations like this. Dense does not coming into it at all.

I thought there were enough hints that he's not dense, but doesn't want to get involved with other people too much. After all, he probably considers himself being a monster even compared to Felli, so as long as he can hold a comfortable distance, he's going to play clueless in order to do so. Besides, so far there was only one person whose opinion deeply influenced him, so why not cheer for Layfon x Queen?

Really do love Leerin this ep, shes awefully cute in her own way

Liked the part with that masked guy telling Haia that even with Fonfon in a sorry state he still wouldn't be able to beat him

I never really took Fonfon as dense as the other riff raff about but I wouldn't put it past him to get everything...well that would apply to everyone

I thought he understood May-chan well enough.

well looking forward to the next ep, I spied something about a Kei-ra Cannon!!

p.s for a tranquilzer gun its pretty damn loud

I think Layfon is blaming himself for Nina’s disappearance which made him relentlessly fighting FMs solo disregarding his own health and well being. On the other hand, now we have an exhausted Felli who’s definitely willing to do anything, probably also to die while using her Nen-I’s over an extent, if it’s for Layfon.

Now if you put Felli’s situation into Layfon’s then you’d have…. a suicidal exhausted Layfon went charging into FM’s alone with an overstretched worn out Felli also following him from behind and supported him even if it’d kill her from exhaustion, but for Layfon’s sake she’d do it nevertheless.

Judging from that what Layfon said to her is the right thing. He cares for her well being and wouldn’t want her to worn out herself just for his selfishness fighting alone. Maybe Layfon will somehow changed because all of this.

It's hilarious that the only girl that doesn't fawn over Layfon is the girl that catches Layfon's attention the most. That's the way Nina. She doesn't crawl to the guy, he crawls to her lmao

Nina is somewhat like a celebrity thanks to billy goat. Everybody wants her now. She rose from zero to hero. Yowza~ Layfon should snap out of his desperation next episode. Zuellni's in deep crap. I feel bad for Karian already.

i think its too obvious that layfon is distraught...he cannot calm down because of nina's disappearance and like what the SCP told him, he's trying to forget the fact that nina is still missing...he's constantly fighting filth monsters not because of the city or for his future or whatever...he's just fighting there without a very clear purpose...poor layfon...but at least we have felli supporting him...but i think its not enough...

he has to see that their captain is safe...in person...and we're not talking about romantic feelings here...not yet...its too early for him/them to realize that...

its true that layfon will feel the same guilt for anyone...but in the first place, he believed so much in nina...and nina really dont want him to fight alone, that's why she sent the rest to layfon and investigated the zuellini issue on her own...i mean, they are now understanding and trusting each other...he was talking about team work in the prev epi and was ready to show her the recorded fight...and to learn that she's gone? it must have really hurt...

anyways, i really am curious as to how nina will come back to zuellini...

anticipating for the next episode...

It doesn't show any real romantic feelings for Nina, since i think Zuellini's got that covered XD he lives for the people he cares about and Nina happens to be one of them.
It wasn't exactly a rejection for Felli so i shall continue raising my Felli X fon fon flag! It's nice to know she's gonna stop hitting him and mb caress him now x).

Can't wait for the next episode I wanna know how the other platoons are gonna against the fms

Not if you're breaking yourself to death like Layfon here. That's not normal anymore. I'm sure Sharnid and the others are concerned about Nina too but they don't act as desperate as Layfon. They can also come up with an excuse similar to Layfon: Why did they let Nina go without a support? and so on. That was cold of Sharnid by the way. To act like his usual self while Nina is missing. I thought they had a connection.

If Nina sees him now she'd scold him for not thinking about the city. Now that's unforgivable.

Look at Felli, she just collapsed in front of Layfon but Layfon still won't stop searching for Nina. It might not be love yet but that kind of emotion is where they usually start.

lol Nah, it's just that Nina is the reason why Layfon is now into 17th platoon and is finding a new purpose to fight. He even speaks like Nina nowadays: "Let's fight together. I want to depend on you 17th platoon yada yada" Nina is a bad good influence on Layfon. She affects him a lot. There's just no way Nina's disappearance won't affect Layfon this much. Still, I expected him to be depressed but not THIS depressed.

Anyway, once Nina goes back to Zuellni with the haikizoku in her. Will they seize her like they did with Dein Dee? I wonder.

Well people react in different ways, can you imagine a broken down sharnid like fon fon?? There are plenty of people with supressed feelings after all. Fon fon also did stop searching for nina after Felli fainted it was after she woke up did he go out again; and thats only after Felli told him he was annoying XD I think he already found his reason to fight.. To protect the people who he cares about in Zuellini o-o.

The thing is he feels ultimately responsible for Nina's disappearance... He told her to go help Zuellini, plus it wouldn't be a great excuse to say why would we let her go alone... It was big fms vs. a over hyperactive fairy apparently. Think the fms would be more of a problem in their head. Take the situation like this; if you told a friend to go scout this are, while the rest of ur team is backing you up and your friend dies. Don't know bout you but i'd be mad depressed if i caused his death/disappearance. Probably more so then the back up ppl feeling guilty.

Not a big fan of Nina, but i don't wanna see her strapped in a wheel chair for life ._. with those creepy eyes. No fate n e one should ever meet D:

Anyone know any other amine that has a main character that surprise other character with his or her skills? Like hideing it until the last moment like in ep in that round when layfon decide to win?

It's a little off topic, but shounen in general is that way. If you had to reference something, then Theresa of Claymore is one. Asu no Yoichi and Toaru Majutsu no Idex are some more examples.

As for Layfon, he really does not like any one yet, and at the same time, he likes them all. Romantically, he feels that he is too much of a monster to love anyone or be loved by anyone.

The way things are going, he'll have a full harem by the end of the series. If there is a season 2, he might pick up some ultra powerful babes to add to his collection. Will he ever fall in love with one? Who knows? This is shounen after all.

I wonder if when Nina returns, will Layfon have his team cooperation like he wanted, or will the city work in that way in general? He could show the footage to the city and have them try to work that way.

man, these week waits are killing me. Felli gets shot down. thats enough to make me happy. though the scene was touching since she said she'd basically die for him. but he cares enough about her to say no. Nina's about to get her power up.. Layfon's will follow soon. i hope its not like an episode 23 development.. like Leerin gets there late.

Heh, the Nina/Leerin meeting was quite cute; it helps that Leerin's constant focus on Layfon (girl, get a life!) was interrupted even for just a while. It's nice to see them become fast friends, though the possible tension in the future (regarding Layfon) is so palpable it reeks.

I feel a bit bad for Felli, who I used to dislike a whole lot but who also, surprisingly, grew on me as time passed; unlike some posters here, I don't think Layfon's that dense. He must have some inkling of what Felli was getting at in that last scene. I suppose Layfon's statement was as direct as he could manage. We shall see whether anything else, sudden realizations or whatnot, comes out of this in the future episodes.
