Well, I watched the last episode, and...

Spoiler for ending of the anime:

the new characters were introduced in the second half of the episode (after Jin gave the letter to Misaki, etc.), and they went to live into Sakurasou (+Yuuko was there too).

This is already from the 7th volume of the LN, right?

Yeah that's from the early part vol 7 which is a very small part. The anime still hasn't covered vol 7-10. I hope they will make another season and it only needs to be a one-cour which is enough to cover almost 4 volumes. Sorata and Mashiro's relationship will be the main focus of the second season.

In vol 7, Mashiro and Nanami struggle with trying to confess to Sorata. Nanami confesses first and the volume ends with Mashiro confessing to Sorata.
Vol 8 is about Sorata figuring out his feelings and in the end he chooses Mashiro. The final scene of vol 8 is the one that I really want to see get animated since it's a strong scene where Sorata and Mashiro tell each other that they love each other and they kiss.
Vol 9 shows what Sorata and Mashiro are like after they become a couple.
Vol 10, the final volume, is not released yet but I'm interested to know what will become of Sorata and Mashiro's relationship at the end of the series.

Atsuko Ishizuka, the anime's director, will be attending Sakura-Con this weekend. I hope someone will ask her if there will be a second season or at least tell her that many people, even those from outside of Japan, want a second season because they want to see the anime covering the LN's ending.

Would anyone please spoil me a little regarding the new residents? I can clearly see why Iori needs to move, but Kanna's reason seems a little odd. But probably I'm simply reading too much into it.

Coming from the anime, there are minor plot inconsistencies and certain characters feel a little different. Mashiro for example is more talkative and "smarter" in the volumes I have read, and sometimes I question if she says all those misleading things on purpose just to make Sorata embarrassed.

Vol 7 and 8 are difficult to read: the majority revolves around Sorata refusing to pick between Nanami and Mashiro. The awkward tension and weirdness among them is painful to read.

Sorata was such an ass to Mashiro during the school trip... I want to punch something when Mashiro cried and screamed about Sorata not praising her on her clothes (she made it so obvious too...), refusing to hold hands, not calling her first name. making her feet hurt because Sorata walked too fast... He is the one who created the awkward tension ebtween the two of them.

His confession at the church was really cute though.

I am disappointed how Nanami's existence became null after Mashiro won. I expected her to at least have some presence but she got maybe 4 lines in the entire vol9.

I wanted to punch Sorata again in vol9 when he didn't want help from Misaki and (especially) Mashiro on the game project. I get the feeling that he is trying to force his ideals onto others. Ie: Mashiro likes drawing manga so she should just focus on that and not get involved. I mean, that goes against everything he has learned in the past, and after all the shit he gave to Mashiro in vol8, he should at least realize she gave him her unconditional love and wished for nothing beside staying by his side (lucky bastard).

7.5 = best volume.

Mashiro and Sorata were getting intimate when Rita interrupted them. A few days later, Misaki wrote in the logs, "--must make sekihan (red bean rice)"

Curious if they finally broke the last barrier

Relationship, plot

Kanna is in love with Sorata but she knew Sorata like Mashiro before she started to fall for him. She realize that she like Sorata after chapter 3 of volume8.Hers is a requited love right from the start to the end.
It is h!nted that Iori likes Kanna. Saori has a piano performance in school and Iori was going to watch. Kanna followed him because she feels bad about what happened in volume 9.He wants to introduce Kanna to his sister. She was like 'Why must I come' though his excuse is 'Since everyone at Sakurasou knows Saori, it will be pitiful if you do not know her'(end of volume 9).

Even though he keeps on saying how she has flat chest and he will never date a girl with a flat chest like her.

The 2 of them secretly followed main couple first date. When the main couple is about to make a U-turn(Mashiro got lost again) and walk down the stairs, Sorata saw Kanna and knew what happened. Kanna was shocked that she got found out that she backtrack, not realizing that she's on the stairs and stepped on empty space.Iori injured his hand while trying to save Kanna who fell down from the stairs of the overhead bridge(both of them followed the main couple discreetly). He plays piano so this affects him greatly. Iori struggled with whether he should stop playing piano(he had surgery for the injury).Things happen(Iori playing skills deteriorate tremendously after resting etc). Kanna feels bad for what happened(it affects the plot of Sakurasou), and she decided to take care of him until he recovered which is 2 or 5months later. Other then that, their relationship is the same as how it is before he got injured.

As of Volume 9, Iori is treading on the path of music production. Kanna is writing her 2nd novel.

More character development for Ryu. Proper closure(I don't think development is going to ever happen as much as I hope) for Fujisawa and Chihiro. Give Yuuko some character development.

Spoiler for additional notes on Iori:

iirc the LN didn't really specified Iori's struggle after he got his cast off. He did break down on the scene. Ryuu also wanted to ditch him for Saori.

Iori locked himself in his room and refused to talk to anyone. Everyone seem to think he is in depression mode (he might be at first), but at the end he claimed to have came into the realization that the piano is only his method to be related to music, and that he enjoyed composition (ie: he is not madly in love of the piano, but he is with music). He used the shut-in time (using Ryuu as a model - I think it lasted 3 weeks) to compose music of various styles for Sorata's game - this lead me to believe his actual "depress" time is much much shorter than what people believe it to be.

He also decided to enter into a piano competition before he officially quit the piano.

Spoiler for what I want to see in v10:

Rita x Ryuu resolved: Her scenes are all on epic proportions. With his past resolved, I think Ryuu is just shy. I guess having someone with even better looks than Mashiro holding your arm is going to attract a lot of attention - something he is not used to.
Iori x Kanna begins: I think Kanna still has some feelings towards Sorata towards end of vol 10. I think she has no chance but to give up if news about Sorata red bean ricing Mashiro spread... (maybe its a troll and Misaki is referring to someone else, ie: Chihiro?)
Game production team solidify.
Proper closure of Nanami: she got no attention in vol9. We only learned she is admitted to a new training course in October. Who knows, maybe the guy who has been going after Nanami would have a shot.
University life: I am curious if Misaki will get the graduating students to live next door. With Sorata, Ryuu, and Rita all going to the same university I would not be surprised. Since Mashiro is just going to continue drawing manga, I wonder if she will just follow Sorata all day long... (unless the author decide to torture us and send Mashiro back to England now that she is done school in Japan).

Would be cute to see Mashiro in a wedding dress on the cover. She has always been the active one in the relationship, maybe she will learn from Jin and give Sorata a ring to fend off girls (I have a feeling her friend in art class may also be a little attracted as well...).
