The concert was superbly great indeed. Unfortunately had to give up the chance to get Flow's signatures. Otherwise I might missed the last LRT to return to hotel...
Didn't bought much merchandises among this 2 days, just some keychains and Gashapons. |

Just got home. It's 20 past midnight.
The journey up to Kuala Lumpur from Singapore took about four hours on Saturday morning. The drive back took six, thanks to two separate accidents along the North-South Highway, each causing a huge jam that took motorists about one hour each to clear. The congestion reminded me of the PIE (the busiest Singapore highway) at rush hours, except many times worse. It's been five or more years since I drove in Malaysia, and around nine years since I was last in KL, and it seems to me that the vehicle population in the country has grown very much larger, just as it has in Singapore. It used to be that even with accidents, traffic would still flow unabated on the N-S Highway. That's no longer the case. Somehow missed the road to the Second Link and ended up at the Causeway checkpoint at about 10pm (had started from Putra World Trade Centre at about 3.45pm). Got stuck in the queue for another hour, but once inside the actual immigration checkpoints, I got through them within 20 minutes. Overall, it's been a rewarding trip, not just for the AFA, but also to have visited Malaysia again. Despite our prior worries, most Malaysians, at least those in KL and in the rest stops along the highway, spoke and understood English. Maybe I'm biased, or I'm suffering from selective memory, but I never recalled English being as widespread there. More importantly, the Malaysians were much friendlier than I expected. The atmosphere at AFA was great, in a collegiate sort of way. For example, in the stage area, most people at the VIP seats didn't need to be prompted to stay seated during presentations — and those that remained standing were heckled until they sat down. There is a sort of solidarity and community spirit among the anime/manga fans in KL that I've never quite felt in Singapore. AFA Malaysia may be just a notch less slick than AFA Singapore, but it more than made up for it with warmth and enthusiasm. In fact, I'd say that AFA Singapore has much to learn from AFA Malaysia, especially in terms of crowd control and the general level of service. (Danny Choo and what's-her-name still suck as MCs, though. I frankly don't understand why they keep coming back as hosts each year. You'd think they'd be a lot better at it by now after so many AFAs.) That's it for now. I have another early morning and a whole hellish week ahead, so it'll probably be a while before I can process and upload my pictures. In any case, most of them were only so-so. Looking forward to all the other stuff people have to share. Till November, for AFA Singapore. |

As TRL had said, I had a culture shock when I was there. Maybe it is because I have been dealing with too many mean people in my line(s) of work, but I am absolutely taken aback by their politeness and friendliness. Even when my brain was suffering from a post-concert system-hang when ordering supper in bit-and-pieces of Malay, and the lady running the roadside store couldn't speak a word of English, one of the customers came and took our order in her stead.
Currently the only 2 complaints I have is the lack of lolis in the convention, and the presence of a certain booth hawking pornographic material. @ TRL : We took around 4 hours (1045-1440) to reach Singapore. You ditched us on Sunday and left at 1600 and reached only at 0017, that is TWICE the amount of time. That is the Curse of the Catgirls for leaving the convention early!

Just got home...
OH MY GOD, KOTOKO'S OPENING SONG WAS "FACE OF FACT" *FANGASMS* God bless Baldr series forever. The Sunday crowd was wild. To all detractors of Light My Fire, you have to really hear this live. It's best live.... Aimi....she's like a little Lisa. Haha, so friendly and warm with the fans....even loves GirlDeMo and Yui wwww Too bad Kalafina didn't sing Aria though....they didn't last year in SG and I was hoping to hear that one in KL....Lacrimosa still more than made up in the end. Flow was great as usual. Only thing is....there was less stuff on sale than I thought. Maybe because it's KL's first? Quote:
BL stall is ok....it's just BL.....I wish SG would have an eroge/galge one... That night after Kotoko....I was really too stoned....she's like a walking drug seriously...Like that saturday last year, the epic overtime, Lisa + Flow Also speaking of SH's Marisa shirt...I ended up wearing that too....and I bought it far earlier than him...months before in fact....

Returned to home on 3-4 hours ago, currently uploading the pictures I took during the event. (Most are on Day 2)
Hopes AFA will be held again on here in future. I will definitely join it again, if this becomes true. The lack of booths (both doujin & commercials) and no seiyuu / VA as special guest were the only letdowns on my opinion. Quote:
By the way, kudos to both the dancers that non-stop dancing on 7 consecutive songs (during Kotoko's performance). Also anyone that involved on making AFA M'sia 2012 a great Anime convention. |

I didn't take alot of photos because I am using my phone camera, and that thing eats electricity like candy. Mainly I used it to communicate with CE, who is in a separate group (kids) from us (working adults).
Day 1 TRL, Joker and me set off at around 0530 and reached at 1100. Joker got lucky at the Canon crowd because he has a Canon camera and got to jump the queue, while TRL, showing his senility due to age progression, forgot to bring along his bill printout and his credit card. Poor guy got stuck in this length of queue : Of course, when I entered the area I was shocked to see this booth and the girls flocking to it : That is disgraceful and disgusting. The booth should be burned down! Goddess Madoka : Dollfie line : Ma-kuro autograph : I wanted this but the price tag is abit too much for me to handle : There is this specific booth for Macross fans and they actually had an amazing display of ancient figurines, like this original SDF-1 Macross : Sneak shot at Ma-kuro concert : When we went back to the hotel and got to bed, we heard a woman screaming and banging from upstairs : we thought it was CE & co (who was in the room directly above us) had females in their group and had an orgy. Day 2 : I took slightly more photos on Day 2 because I wasn't shopping around as much. Most of the time, I was being a spotter for Joker while he takes the shots. Dollfie line : Cosplay : Yes that is a QB anthropomorphism. Contract? Kaname and Spiralcats had exclusive concert access : Kaname tried to break into the seating area to his fans until the crew stopped him. And I just realised that one of the SP-cats (Miyuko/Tasha) is a loli at 150+cm tall. Too bad I didn't bring a luggage big enough to take her home. Loot : Of course :
