Thumbs up What is your favorite video player?

I thought that it might be interesting to see what media players everyone favors for playing their anime. (Note that if you have more than one favorite you can list them all!) In case anyone doesn't recognize some of the choices I list their websites below. You can also consider this an opportunity to check out a new media player in case you aren't entirely happy with the one you have. All of these can be tried out for free so enjoy. I'm not listing RadLight because I am morally opposed to adware. If you have a favorite that I didn't include then please post it and I'll be glad to add it to the poll!

Ace Media Player
AIW Player
BS Player
The Core Media Player
Crystal Player
DivX Player
Media Player 6.4 (Start Menu -> Run, Type "mplayer2")
Media Player Classic
MplayerQuick Time
RealOne Player
Sasami2k
VideoLan
ViPlay
Winamp
Windows Media Player 9
Xine
Zoom Player

PS. Originally I thought that I was going to have to make some tough choices, but it turns out that moderators can make polls with more than 10 options! (That's why the last few items on the list aren't in alphabetical order.)

You're missing a choice.

I use one called "Ace Media Player". It plays EVERYTHING, and has some great playlist features too!

Definitely BSPlayer for videos, the ability to resize the video with my mouse wheel is priceless.
MPC comes second for videos, not as good as BSP, but still better than the rest.

WinAmp 5 for audio..I love WA's skins and I love its functionality even more, it gave me no problems in the past and Im not going to change it.

^^

Edit: If I have to be picky, you missed DVD softwares like PowerDVD. Its widely used for DVDs playback.

i dont know why but everytime I use something other than divx to play mpeg4, the audio get off sync. Thus my current fav. is divx player and WMP 6.4 classic (dont need the screen capture function in bsplayer).

It is now added to the poll! Sorry, but I hadn't heard of this before.

I'm going to have to download the Ace Media Player and give it a try!

I like it, it does just what I need it to do. It's also the only media player I know of that can make playlists of Realmedia files without actually using a RealPlayer.

Also, downloading it will give you something to do while enjoying the explosions coming from the Naruto forum after the FFS hoax release.

They're on the list. Can't you find them?

What are their homepages? (I don't feel like googling for them at the moment.) What OS do you use them on.

Mplayer: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/
Xine: http://xinehq.de/

They're ported to all UNIX clones (FreeBSD/NetBSD/Linux/OpenBSD/Unix) there are some builds of them to Win too, but they suck on windows (mplayer is by far the best player out there, period!). Also with mplayer you can watch movies via telnet or ssh coz it supports ascii output...you haven't seen anything until u have seen anime video in ascii

Also mplayer can play .bin/.iso files without burning them ^_^ Try that on BSplayer

MPlayer features

NoSanninWa says: This feature list goes on for several pages and gets really boring, so I just deleted it. It would have been better if Forse had just listed a link to the information. Another choice would have been to have posted a short excerpt.

That was really annoying so I edited Forse's post. I'm sure that he's going to be really mad at me for that. Hopefully he'll get over it.

Incidently, I'm shocked that nobody besides me voted for The Core Media Player! It utterly r0x0rs j00! You can even tell it that your favorite audio is Japanese and favorite subtitles are English so that it will use those as the default choices when playing Ogg and Matroska.

Aren't there any other Core Media Player fans? If you haven't used it, then please give it a try.

I was puzzled by it so I tried the player for a while.. Well, I wasn't impressed by it, the interface was kinda bad compared to my personal BSPlayer skin.

The player works fine, but BSPlayer works fine too..

lol! I just noticed your Custon title ~ Evil.

Im very happy with my feature ladden windows media player 9. It lets me skip forwards and backwards to any point in the video. It's also complete with volume control and a pause feature. Everything I need to enjoy anime!

Just a thought, but as i download videos sometimes its not the fault of the player its that the files are fragmented all over the hard drive.. Disk keeper is an excellent program for that, and that may be some of your problem.. Maybe not but its worth looking into.. there is nothing worse than a video being out of sync..

Hehe..it's fine It's just I wanted to show that no player can come close to mplayer. And it's not propaganda as flash said, it's just truth
