I wasn't interested in this movie, until I heard a familiar robotic voice.
I don't know if they hired Glados for this movie to promote sales, but that certainly sold it for me. Campy as it might be, it can't be worse than G.I.Joe. And Glados tipped the scales.

...Speaking of Eva (dunno if this was posted already), someone at Evageeks with RL ties to the film industry apparently managed to land his hands on the initial draft for Pacific Rim (please notice my emphasis on "initial").
Spoiler for PR initial draft + plot:
The plot has most likely been severely altered by now, so take the contents of the link above with an aircraft carrier-full of salt (you should also question whether the person truly did get a copy of the initial draft). A couple things I noticed in the trailer or that are making the rounds: - Apparently they repurposed NASA's Crawler-transporters to transport the Jaegers inside the shatterdomes, although in the trailer the Crawler was, IMHO, moving a bit faster than its RL counterpart. Can't remember what the weight of a standard Jaeger is, but the CTs can shoulder just about 5,400 tons. - Since when did F22s have dual Vulcans? *nag*nag*nag*nag*nag*nag*nag* - Word of mouth is that the two pilots feature is meant to effectively resolve the complexity of moving such a large frame - one person controls the left side, while the other does the right. This sort of reminds me of the theory that very large dinosaurs like the larger Diplodocidae or the Brachiosauridae had two brains (one in the skull, and a "neural repeater" brain more or less midway down the spine) to effectively manage their massive bodies. ...Anyway, with this I think some anime fans' hopes for a Western LAEM (or Live-Action Eva Movie, for those who are unfamiliar with the acronym) have been dangerously dashed. An eventual LAEM (provided it manages to extirpate itself from development hell) would be somewhat of a redundancy now, with Pacific Rim at the forefront of everyone's mind (not to mention all the similarities that'd plague any non-anime-biased review of the said LAEM).

Two pilots operating the same frame makes sense.
However, I wonder what this means for Coyote Tango, is that one reserved for ace pilots? I recall somewhere that in one of the viral marketing material, there was a bit of info saying the Britian was sending their most experiened pilots to Japan. |

The Coyote tango only need 1 pilot because Japanese are too familiar with giant robots ? It would be funny if they just hand wave that as : "It only need 1 pilot because Japaneses are weird."

"two pilots? Oh please, I've been around super robots for like forever, only need one!" Now if theres is some sorta small nod to Super Sentai somewhere I think this will be movie of the year for me ....obviously I'm not expecting the robots to join together to form a mega super robot but can't deny I wouldn't mind seeing it
