I am quite pleased that Mikuru was able to move on to the regular season. The Haruhi fanbase often forgets about her for the other female SOS Brigade members and the anti-fans hold her up as an example of "what is wrong about anime." A third season would help her popularity immensely.

Clicking through all the results, it seems like russia is always countervoting everyone else.

Guys, you are taking the 'in soviet russia' joke too far.

Generally decent results, I suppose. I didn't feel much for the participants in the Nova part, though Shouko, Menma, and Elsie are great victories. Yuno > Ika Musume on the other hand, not really. I lol'd at the Sora > Madoka; I can't wait to see the rage in ISML forums.

And Fate officially exits the ISML arena, releasing Demi and other Fate fans from torture forever.

Aw :-( Why do I see images of ex-champion boxer & "washed-up" Anthony Quinn hanging on by having to enter wrestling exhibitions?

I'd like to remind everyone that Fate Testarossa will be in the first exhibition match.

Well, I hope she wins... but that is a bit hard to see.

I dread the day Holo is relegated to that... oh that she would get another season and delay that fate.

I don't know how I feel about seeing Fate or some of the other vets in the exhibitions... might it be better to let them "retire" with dignity? I honestly don't know. *sigh*

I think it is best to let the voters decide that answer.

After forgetting about ISML for a good month or so, I come back to see Fate out of the regular tournament. After raging for a minute, I, somewhat happily, think to myself: guess I don't have to worry about (raging with) ISML this year. Then I read that shes gonna be in the first exhibition match... I guess I'll be sticking around a bit longer

For those interested, here are my stats ranking the characters that made preliminaries.

Legend:
Bold - Advanced through Preliminary Phase 1
Green - Advanced through Preliminary Phase 2
Blue - Advanced through Preliminary Phase 3
Black - Preliminary Phase 3 Finalist
Red - Lost in Round 1 of Phase 3

Assume fairly large margins of error but I like to think these numbers aren't too far off reality in most cases.

Spoiler for Character Ranking after Preliminary 3-3:

According to those stats I'm surprised Kyoko is weaker than Menma while Iwasawa is expected

Mine has Kyouko being slightly stronger than Menma, but I wouldn't be surprised is she's actually weaker because madoka girls in general continuously underperform when I started keeping stats in phase III, and letting Tsugumi cutting that close would do really bad to her value in a model that values freshness of data much more than mine.

Maybe Homura getting 3rd seed will get more people to watch Madoka and thus be more aware of its characters, if that was the problem with them. The data seems to support this theory, although given how famous Madoka was last year it's still a bit suspect.

I'm thinking hate vote here. Either that or the fact that Madoka is a year old.

On the other hand, you have girls like Iwasawa actually doing better than the Madoka girls...(Yep, I'm still fuming...), so I don't know how "series being old" can explain the phenomenon.

But then, Kanade will go 35-0 and win Nova easily anyway. The only one that I see getting remotely close is Kuroneko, since she's getting Season 2 with a storyline that would push her over the top. I see Homuhomu as this year's Eu-kun, aka can beat most lower tier girls but keep losing to just about anyone remotely stronger.

Well, anyone who supports Kanade would basically automatically know Iwasawa, and many of them probably don't know many other animes, so Iwasawa would become a kind of default vote against those characters they don't know about.

Given the number of Kanade supporters out there, Iwasawa can enjoy the ride. I think that Shiina would actually have a good chance of getting in the regular season if she had managed to pass nominations.

Regal: Yeah, that's true...I mean, it's hard to be me who basically only vote for Kanade and no one else from AB (I do vote for Yui-nyan once in awhile, but that's about it...). But then, I do know about 80% of the girl in Nova...(100% if you only count those that make it to regular season...)
