Can only guess at how they got started. Clearly always had some special abilities and eventually got arrogant deciding they were better than everything else. Thus you get things like taming spirit foxes and doing those rituals.

ep. 11 - so the Fox spirits' side of the picture gets told. I knew they wouldn't obediently obey these evil guys and simply allow themselves to be sacrificed but I didn't know that they were bound under a spell. So cruel! It's about time this evil ritual gets stopped.

...and Daidai's stupidity is really getting on my nerves. She's being extremely selfish and greedy to be jealous of her poor sister. I sure hope it doesn't take Byakuroku's death to get her to realize her foolish action.

By the end of the episode.. I had a feeling Daidai is in for a bit of a surprise in my books. She deserves it actually, for being selfish like that.

Not a bad finale. The best part was the red moon, when Zakuro used her powers at maximum. Having your theme song guide you is always a good sign of victory. The sweet second half made for a nice denouement to contrast the tension-filled first half, and overall, the series was pretty nicely done. Some nice characters, some fun dynamics, a well developed world with spirits and humans coexisting. It's a nice watch. Though there's still a character song album on the way, so I'm not quite done with it just yet.

Final battle went as expected but I was more interested in what would happen afterwords with Agemaki x Zakuro and that didn't disappoint. Even though tried to amp up the drama by making the guys leave only to have them back in the next scene I still enjoyed it. Especially the last scene with everyone finding out about the kiss.

Wasn't expecting much out of this anime but I was pretty hooked after the first episode. Not sure if there's any material for 2nd season but I hope there is.

the goodbye scenes for every couple were beautiful, riken and susukihotaru are sooo cute

I thought they did a really good job wrapping things up. Too bad Daidai went down like that since I kind of expected her to do more in the last episode. But considering her pyro craze it was somewhat expected that she wouldn't have an easy last episode. Good call about her being turned into lunch and talk about insult to injury saying she tasted bad.

Seems I was right about Omodaka and Byakuroku. I figured with the village falling apart they would end up traveling around together. With her sister gone Byakuroku couldn't just wander around alone and guess she didn't feel like she fit in with the other girls at spirit affairs. Nice little line about asking him to take away her freedom. Not sure if having her potentially dying with him changed Omodaka's mind or if it was mostly what Zakuro said. Either way two people who have lost a lot in their lives now have to find their own way. Actually like settling the Omodaka side of it like that.

A good final battle as well. The team tried to work together against a powered up Rangui, but only so much they could do. Zakuro's attack was pretty impressive and she just finished it in style. Guess when the pendant was unsealed the power that was tricking Omodaka and Zakuro was gone.

Liked the bit at the end with the guys leaving only to come back. Really they got me since I didn't expect them to just be right back in the last moments after appealing to the higher ups. Who knew that kind of thing actually worked ? The goodbyes were well done for the various couples. Of course a touching moment with Riken and Susukihotaru. Some chuckles and a nice promise from Ganryuu and the twins. Of course the Agemaki and Zakuro confessions was great. Zakuro finally was honest with herself even though it was a possible separation that pushed her .

Overall a great series. Honestly I didn't expect that it would be such a good show from the summary. But they did a great job with the characters and made it a show you had to keep watching. Just well done. The only negative was that it ended.

I liked this ep. I expected this kind of ending, and yeah i'm satisfied with this. I'll watch a second series too, but there's not much hope. Anyway this series was great, one of the best shows of this season. I really liked it.

I love it when a show allows time after the climax for a real denouement. This was no masterpiece, but a very enjoyable show with some good touches. The staff guided things with a sure hand, it seemed to me.

As for the reinstatement of Spirit Affairs, I imagine Agemaki got his mother to convince his father to use his influence, lol.

I assume it's both Zakuro and Byakuroku that changed Omodaka's mind. I didn't expect him to survive but I'm pretty happy he did. He and Byakuroku make a good couple.

The goodbye scenes were all very different yet equally touching (okay, Riken and Susukihotaru's goodbyes were more moving than the others) Never thought the guys would be back so soon either
Zakuro's reaction was truly befitting of an A+ tsundere.

I'm going to miss this show. Zakuro was definitely the sleeper hit of the season for me. No, the year. I was only interested in this series because of the voice cast in the first place, I never thought I would end up loving it so much.

The plot wasn't mind-blowing but the story was well narrated and interesting enough. The true strength of the series lied in its characters, all of which were endearing in their own way. Their interactions were always a delight to watch. It's the first time I've had so much trouble deciding on a favorite female character (my heart is leaning towards Zakuro, it's been a long time since I've last seen such an adorable tsundere), which shows just how wonderful they all are. They've all bewitched me!

Perfect ending to a fantastic series. I went into it thinking it was going to be like an alternative-history Nurarihyon, but it turned out to be far more than that and far better: my favorite for the fall season. The animation, the characters, the drama & romance, the mystery & comedy: it all weaved together beautifully.

I didnt go in with any expectations and i was left with a very satisfying series. Like most here have said, this was one of those surprise series this year.

i was pretty surprised by the end 2 i thought it might have saved it for a 2nd season, which i hope we get at some point.

In general, a good series to watch. Funny at times, serious at times, and (a rare thing, but) set couples from the beginning.
The serious part of the anime, the story, was a bit slightly lackluster, especially the end of the spider, but well, it was good enough. Pity Daidai didn't survive though. Also a shame that the other one changed her outfit. That thing they were wearing beforehand looked better (in a fanservice meaning).

seems like everything was solved except what happen to those failed-Zakuro-half-spirits, should have no 2nd season

a little sixth sense drama with "all i see is her bones" "hahahaha..."

wonder was it Omodaka that helped to reopen the Spirit Affairs at the end?

I loved watching the conclusion to this and the effort put into the continuous character development up through the very end. I thought the pomegranate-seed attack was pretty spectacular but I think the teamwork displayed, among friend and "foe", in the final battle was what set it apart emotionally.

Exactly what made Zakuro's trance break is mysterious. It's obvious she was conscious the whole time, so was it a particularly strong thought or feeling or perhaps part of the effect of the spell their mother had left Zakuro and Omodaka with?
