I really liked how Tohru handled the situation. He did an excellent job of stressing to "Chii" how he had always seen her as a little sister, and that the way he treated her reflected that. I think he did a superb job of making it clear to Chizuru just why he saw her that way.

I also think that Tohru noticed that Chizuru liked him romantically, but only after his most recent visit home. I truly do think that he only saw her as a little sister to him before that, and that this is how he wants to continue to see her (especially since he's engaged to another woman now).


The final scene at the dockside was very poignant, and a great choice of settings for a bittersweet and melancholic ending like this. I liked all the subtlety that this episode conveyed.

All-told, a nice episode.

Not one of my favorites for this anime, but only because Kazehaya and Kurumi didn't show up. But still a good solid arc concluding episode.

WOW! I've just finished reading all the spoilers while waiting for 21 to finish d/l. I just LOVE this anime- food for my romantic soul.

Loved how episode 21 played out. The stroll with Chizuru and Tohru with all the childhood memories was great. Literally a trip down memory lane. Definitely made me look back to my childhood days, so I loved how relatable the entire walk was. And the ending between Ryuu and Chizuru was so well done that I was tearing at the end. A great episode in all respects.

While I tend to feel somewhat indifferent towards this show generally, I can always marvel at what I.G. is able to do from an artistic standpoint. This ep really had me hooked creatively, though, which is not so surprising given that the supporting characters are so much more interesting than the leads. Ryuu has been a winning character from the very beginning, very subtle, and the complex interplay between he, Tooru and Chiziru was really well constructed. I would say this is easily my favorite episode of KnT to date.

And yes, I pronounced "Chii" too...

Ah, good episode indeed. Not the best, but it was good. Kurumi's arc was the best so far, she was pure win....I still miss her.

From the preview it looks like things are going to be focused on Sawako and Kazehaya again, so I am happy about that.

I really do love side characters. I never realized it myself. haha.

But I liked the Kurumi not only because Kurumi herself was awesome (Hirano Aya <3) but because the contrast between her and Sawako was great.

Don't get be wrong though, I'm not hating on the series at this point or anything, I still enjoy it.

aw comeon DragonZero I was just teasin lol. There are still plenty of other side characters to love. Dont worry i feel you. Majority of the time i find the side characters more enjoyable than the main characters.

I'm split on this for Kimi ni Todoke. I can't think of a character I haven't liked on the show, side or main character (okay, except Pin). Hence, the reason why my avatar is Ume and my sig is Sawako. Passionately ambivalent on this.

I do hope that Yano gets more development, and an arc of her own at some point. I enjoyed Chizu's arc, but I prefer Yano as a character and she seems to be relegated to commentator status most of the time. She is one of the few non-dense people in the series, so I have a soft spot for her.

Yes i agree, she's my favorite side character in KnT, would love to see a Yano arc at some point or rather I've been waiting all the time for one to surface, preferably one involving her own personal romance issues. As you mentioned her role so far is just that of a cupid/observer but it would make a great plot twist if in her own arc she was to take the role of the clueless and needy fool for a change, after all in love everyone becomes an idiot, she shouldn't be any different
