Windows 7 (x64)/CCCP/Core AVC/WMP 12 playback problems...
I just recently bought a new computer and I am having some playback issues that I have never encountered before. My new machine is running Windows 7 (64 bit and SP1) and I recently installed the latest versions of CCCP (11/11/11) and Core AVC (3.0.1). Now, when I attempt to play anime using WMP 12 all I get is a black screen (sized to match resolution of file) with no video or audio playing. Oddly enough, when I attempt to play other .mkv files that are not anime related, I have no issues playing them at all. This only applies to anime related files.
I went ahead and tried the Media Player Classic (never had to use it before because WMP always worked for me with above codecs installed) and there were a few issues I had to figure out with the subtitles and all but it seems to be working for the most part. Although, I do get video playback that studders at times. But, I would like to find out what the issue is with WMP 12 though because it is frustrating me to no end. On my previous computer I was running Vista (32 bit) with the above codecs and never had a single problem for years when playing the files in WMP 11. Anybody have any ideas why I might be experiencing these issues? Does it have anything to do with Windows Media Center? I have un-installed and re-installed both CCCP and CoreAvc multiple times so I don't think that is the issue. This is my first 64 bit computer and already I am finding that the 32 bit system just seemed to work better with less problems. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. |

Try this
1. Uninstall both CCCP and CoreAvc. 2. Remove all codec packs that you've installed if any, including CCCP, and any MPC-HC you have, don't forget to check 'remove installation data' or something like that if any appears. 3. Use CCleaner (if you don't have it, download here) 4. Clean out Registry using CCleaner (just to make sure CCCP, and CoreAvc is removed completely) 5. Do NOT install CoreAvc 5. Re-install CCCP Here, and don't touch any of the settings. 6. Play any Anime Mkv file using the built in media player classic. (if this works let me know, and I'll help you with configuration for the Media Player Classic. With the latest CCCP & Windows 7 I don't think you need CoreAvc ) |

I'm having the exact same problem for some reason. I haven't watched any anime on my computer in a while now, and recently decided to again.
Only applies to anime related files for whatever reason, did something change? Running Windows 7 x64. |

If you are trying to use Windows Media Player, try the following setting: http://www.mediafire.com/?43blfrroahaefej

I also used DivX video player, and it was doing the same thing there too. |

So, how do I get rid of it (or un-install) now that it is somewhere in my registry and I can't seem to locate it? |

Open Haali Media Splitter settings.
That reg file enables the following: Compatibility-> Autoload VSFilter (this should allow DirectVobSub/VSFilter to load in WMP) Output-> Use Custom Media Type for H.264 (this will enable use of CoreAVC, FFDShow, LAV Video decoder or similar video decoder in WMP in Windows 7 - in CoreAVC installation this is usually enabled by default) |

Thanks for the quick reply.
Oddly enough it's not letting me open the settings in Haali. It gives me this error... "There was a problem starting splitter.ax The specified module could not be found." Not sure what is going on here... EDIT: I am going to un-install and re-install CCCP+MPC-HC and see if that helps. But, I would like to start from scratch because ever since I installed that registry file, even MPC-HC seems to be acting wacky. So, if you are able to describe how I can get rid of that registry file, I will start over. Thanks. Last edited by TempestGarden; 2012-04-26 at 00:20. |

Remove all the codec packs and try mangatron's guide.

Note: That reg file does not install or uninstall Haali Media Splitter. |

iDUH! LOL!
It is actually. I feel really dumb after posting that. It was just the same size as the registry file and around the same day that I installed the reg file. Sorry.......... Which just made me think of something. Perhaps CCleaner actually got rid of the registry file and I didn't even realize it. Not sure why that would affect Haali Media Splitter though. |

I reinstalled everything and just for the heck of it I tried to open up the settings in Haali as you suggested earlier and I get the same error message that I got before as well. I am really at a loss as to why this is happening. |
