Fun, light hearted anime
Hello.
Before I request for any suggestion, I'd like to first say that this is my first post here, though I've been lurking for quite a bit, so please forgive me for anything that I may have overlooked. Now that's out of the way, I'd like to hear your ideas about anime that are light-hearted and fun. I've seen quite a few dramatic ones, like Clannad and the likes, and I loved them, but now I'm looking for shows similar to: Seitokai Yakuindomo Nichijou Seitokai no Ichizon School Rumble Hyouka etc.etc. Romance or not, it's okay, just something fun to watch. Drama is okay, but I'm not in the mood for tragedies as of now. Ah, but feel free to recommend others while you're at it, though I may prioritize what I'm searching for over them. Sorry for the long post and the many standards I'm setting ^^; Looking forward to be part of this community! |

Chi's Sweet Home, a story about a lost kitty adopted by a young Japanese family, always brings a smile to my face. There are 104, three-minute episodes which makes it easy to watch. A second 104-episode season airs on Crunchyroll.
I'll also suggest Nodame Cantabile. The first season streams with dubs on Sony's Crackle service. The fansubs cover the original season and its two sequels.

Joshiraku - your mileage may vary on this one depending on whether you get the references
Haiyore Nyaruko-san (2 seasons) - full of gags, funny even without understanding the references Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? (2 seasons) - funny as a whole Upotte - light-hearted show, but the basis of the girls being guns could be a turn-off for some viewers

If you like kemonomimi characters (anime people with animal ears and animal tails), you might like Dog Days season 1 and season 2, which is light hearted and pretty fun.
FYI, Dog Days season 2 is called Dog Days' (notice the apostrophe). It is called "Dog Days DASH", so people call it either Dog Days' or Dog Days DASH. Here is the character pages from the official websites. Just by looking at the cast of characters you can tell it is a light hearted anime. http://www.dogdays.tv/1st/chara/ http://www.dogdays.tv/chara/index.html

Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! and its second season might be worth a look. It's also done by the same studio as Nichijou and Hyouka. It's a pretty funny comedy with some very adorable characters. The story gets more serious during the latter half of the first season but things turn out well so it's not too depressing.
