Honestly, a lot of the arguments read to me as 'My favorite ship didn't work out! Nooooo!'

None of the ships should be discounted. As XFire has been saying, this just setup the potential for the Ash x Eco ship. Ash now recognizes Eco as a potential romance partner, something he didn't do before. Every other girl in the harem, and all the others yet to be introduced, are still very much in the running.

Eco is not human, and she isn't really a dragon, either. In the same way that the Eckblaid aren't elves.

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge here, so just in case....

Eco was born to give birth to a new race of dragons by mixing their blood with humans. Basically, all her children and descendants would be like her, with both human and dragon forms. This would help deal with their declining numbers and Astral supply.

In other words, Eco is a perfectly legitimate partner for Ash not despite, but because she isn't human.

well, I'm surprised about why Julius didn't get any punishment since he's already branded as traitor... I wonder what kind of trick that Lautreamont's family pull in here

all those build-up for Silvia's end is wasted... dang!
even though we could say this is not the end, anime version clearly hinted Eco-Ash ending since it would give a hybrid dragon-human descendant
for Silvia, it's not possible for now since Ash need to get status-rise so he could marry a princess (it is little similar in ZnT where Saito got a knighthood, then he could get near with Louise)

well, I know it's pointless to argue about it.. rather than that, let's looking forward for the possibilities of season 2... I hope this sells well
