In theory Macross Quarter still has enough hangar space to keep that plane stored, along with the advantage of a very long flight deck while afloat on a habitable planet's ocean such as Eden (recall the Navy's experiment in which they landed and taken off a Hercules from the deck of USS Forrestal).
