Will you be willing to buy food from cloned animals in near future?

It seems that we might get to see food made and come from cloned animals. Experts are trying to bio-engineer some animals that are cloned so that their offspring will have better supply that will cause less disease to us. Washington Post says that FDA wants people to try on it because it will cause less cholesterol problem. Last edited by xris; 2006-10-28 at 17:07. |

Sure, meat is meat. Cloning, as a word, just gives some people the creeps, especially when combined to something like "bio-engineering." Did you know that when the first microwaves came out, people were paranoid about them too? Cancer, radiation, etc...

SUPER MEAT! SWEET!, yeah all kidding aside I don't have any problems with any sort of bio-engineering or cloned animals, hell if it makes it better for you then there shouldn't be any issue. I don't think the religious right can claim that this is immoral either considering that the cattle are raised to be slaughtered.

Just so you know the "normal" food you eat now is more dangerous.. The natural stuff aren't that nice looking as the stuff you see in the market, with just love and care

hmm well the ethics involved are certainly bound to heat this up...
tbh i dont really like the idea of cloning something that isnt naturally clonable...yea it would be cool but it seems wrong...and you never know what mutations that might occur in cloning...the meat youll be eating might contain some deadly chemical or abnormality that can i duno give you an extra arm or something like that eating natural meat would be my choice...unless it is proven successful that cloned animals wont kill you...

Aren't we all eating plants that are genetically modified in some way already? Anyway, I have no problem with it and it is going to happen sooner or later. I am still waiting for a full prosthetic body.

and plants...they can be cloned naturally anyways so i dnt think it would cause us any problems if they are cloned by human hands...but if by genetically modifying it you mean making it resistant to pests etc then i duno...it could turn out to poison you but so far nothing has happened...yet

Many religions are against women's rights as well. Just because a religion says that you SHALL NOT EAT CLONED MEAT, doesn't mean that you have to listen.
And yes, I will be perfectly willing to buy products coming from cloned animals/plants as long as it's proven that the cloning process is very unlikely to cause unwanted mutations in the clones that might prove to be...unhealthy when consumed. |

I'll buy and eat it, after one or two years. If no one died on some unknown disease, everything is fine. There are still meat replacements.
I don't have much trust in science. In some points, it's positive, but it'll most likely be the reason for the end of humanity, imo. |

Yepp... In other words, the hands, which abuse the fruits of science... maybe. Sure... Religion is also a serious topic. Nothing to say against that. Anyway... If I can happily life without anything "unknown", why should I become a consumer?
