Seriously, my only major issue with this series in general is a lack of opportunities to see either of those two girls team up with Touma to fight magic users. If this season can deliver in that regard at least once, I'll be satisfied.
Then sorry to bring to bring the bad news but that would never happen. Seeing Touma fight together with Kuroko and Misaka against the magicians.
The author deliberately separate the two worlds with the whole secrecy of the world. Only the people who fight behind the scenes or underground or dark battles would know the magicians.
Knowing the dark side of academy city would make you knew the dark organization INSIDE academy city. But fighting the dark side of the WORLD would make you in contact with the magicians which is outside realms of normal world.
The animation was great, seems like they saved up for this ep, especially the fireworks and the scene with the plane. Also the BGM with the fight and the when Laura was trolling Lidvia was awesome. Really caught the mood well.

That's...pretty disappointing then IMO. I mean one of the catch-lines Touma would keep stating throughout the next ep previews has to do with the crossing of science and magic. So despite how separated these two worlds are at present, I was hoping to interpret the catch-line as somewhat of a foreshadowing of more changes to come in this regard.

the enemy of that arc would make accelerator like a baby a harmless baby Imagine sending the others against her the opponent send by the roman Catholics to beat if the strongest of the science side esper is totally useless against her.
The war would break loose in season 3 if their would be but which I wish it would had.

How such a well planned plan could not include fireworks in their research? During festival it is the most common thing to happen! Or couldn't they just wait until fireworks will go down and continue?
Unbeatable Touma and his iron punches are starting to get on my nerves... there was a MASSIVE explosion right before his face and he still was fine?!
Oriana who was introduced as smart and powerful magician went down just like that? Like everyone elde before her? With dumb punch? Like that she is no different from many other villians so far! Seriously... and Touma used to be my fave when series just began...
Also I'm sad that we weren't shown a hospital moment between Touma and Himegami, she barely gets any screen time and animators even dared to cut out one of her happy moments -_-
The only good part was at the airplane...
Now to leave my over all opinion... why is Index always biting? Is she a dog? 0_o
The magical world starts to get boring... for some reason arcs wich include technology are much better (points at sister arc and latest one with Kuroko).

Because people like to have stuff they can relate to, but funny thing is the previous arc never did include any actual use of technology, so you can probably just chart it down to character favorism.
so many people are disappointed with the daihasei arc. but the final half of index season II will bring anime fans all over the world bow towards its epicness.

Last I've checked, some people said the same thing about Daihaiseisai, so it's better to not make too many promises like that.
Too much of an expectation would only lead to disappointments Just take the show as it is.

It might not have included technology that much but somehow their arcs always happen to be more epic and exciting. And I'm not basing it on favorotism, Accelerator and Misaka are by far not my faves.

You must have missed the part where Touma and Stiyl were messing each other up while rushing towards Oriana, so she couldn't read their movements because they were too messy. You must also take into account that she's been running around all day, used a lot of magic, and was punched by Touma before.

As his thoughts start to vanish, Oriana, who finished using all her flashcards, came running over.
She’s planning to deal the final blow. Not by magic, but to crush Kamijou’s bones with her fist that’s as hard as granite.
The strength in his legs is gradually disappearing.
It’s difficult for him to even stand.
In this situation, it’ll be impossible for him to even block Oriana’s attack, let alone dodge.
If he’s going to be hit like that, Kamijou’s body will be crushed.

The thing that each of them actually wished for is all to preserve the smiles of the people, both the citizens of Academy City and the tourists who are here for Daihaseisai. Though the scale and quality may differ, everyone wants to maintain and protect the lives that they have now.
Kamijou himself said it before.
He said to Himegami Aisa, who was on the ground in blood, that he’ll go to her room before the night tour starts. This isn’t just a battle with this magician, it’s also the realisation of having to battle for others.
This is regarding the feelings of these people who express their own views.

“GYA…AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!”
His legs finally start to move.
The visions that’s tilted to the side is supported by the earth.
Oriana Thompson’s just ahead.
She’s about to swing her fist down.
“Wh…why!?”
Her eyes widen in surprise. Most likely, she didn’t expect a counterattack. Oriana, who was focusing on attacking, didn’t have time to set her defense up.
In his blurry consciousness, Kamijou Touma clenches his right fist in a refined manner.
Forcefully, firmly, not willing to let go.
After that.
Both parties exchanged fists.
Kamijou Touma’s strike hits Oriana directly on the face.
The magician’s body rolls backwards in a forceful manner.

The meeting in the hospital between Touma and Himegami was not shown in the light novels either.

In the morning, Himegami Aisa wakes up on the hospital bed.
The room that she’s in isn’t a private single room like Kamijou, but rather an ordinary 6 person ward that is separated by curtains for personal space. Of course, all the patients living in this room are all females, but of different ages. There’s also a girl of similar age to Himegami.
“…”
Himegami’s lax expression shifts to the ceiling before she slowly moves her upper body up to sit on the bed.
“What are you doing here so early in the morning?”
The plain voice is directed at the edge of the hospital bed. The nun wearing pure white robes is sitting on the floor, her upper body leaning on the railing, as she continues to sleep on the edge of the hospital bed.
Himegami, who just woke up, looks like she wants to sleep, but this nun also looks like she wants to sleep as well. The person living with her (or rather, the homeowner) would often be sent to this hospital because of injuries. This white nun seems used to sleeping overnight at a hospital. The way she sleeps on the couch in an individual ward or the bench in the waiting room is famous among the nurses. Right now, the rumour has developed such that the mysterious girl who lurks around in the hospital likes television, snacks and toys.
The British nun, Index, wakes up, her eyes narrow.
“Ho…because the hospital staff mentioned that I can’t use the bench during daytime, I came over to Aisa to seek refuge. Such a comfortable bed…”
Her animal instincts seems to lead her to desire for a warm and comfortable bed.
However,
“Oi oi, a quilt is meant to cover, not for biting. Also, don’t drool whenever you want it, I’ll be the one scolded.”
“How warm…”
Index doesn’t seem to care as she presses her face against the quilt. As her face is placed near Himegami’s thigh, there’s an itchy feeling. This girl seems to be in an afternoon lesson in spring, as 70-80% of her consciousness is still in dreamland. After thinking for a while, Himegami opens a 1-metre tall mini ice box that’s beside the bed.
“I’ll use the ice from the freezer to wake you up, heh.”
“SO COLD!!!!???”
After the rectangular ice block touches the nun’s forehead, the nun inadvertently screams. Not only her, everyone else in the room wakes up. Himegami backs away, lowers her head and apologises. As if she can’t stand everyone staring at her, she presses on the remote and closes the curtain separating them.
Catching the ice block that she knocked away from her forehead, Index never noticed Himegami’s expression, as she places the ice block into her mouth.
“Aisa’s all right, right? I heard that our magician used some sloppy healing spell to heal you.”
“Actually, I had already lost consciousness when they were healing me. But the frog-faced doctor said that all the tests results are okay, I should be able to recover fully.”
Himegami says this as she adjusts the collar of her pyjamas. The Cross is shining. Her body, covered by this cloth, is wrapped in bandages in a certain manner over her chest and lower abdomen, but all the blood vessels that are used to maintain her life seem to have recovered.
To a girl, Himegami Aisa would also worry that scars would be left on her body. Regarding this, the frog-faced doctor reveals a weird smile, saying, “Hoho, who do you think I am? As long as it’s something a patient requires, I will provide everything for them. Hohohohoho, I love to be relied on by patients.” Come to think of it, when the right arm of a certain boy was cut, there wasn’t any scar left behind.
Himegami stares at the bandages inside her pyjamas.
(It’s supposed to be a wound so deep that the bones can be seen.)
Though that red-haired priest just did an emergency ‘life maintenance’, it’s a magic spell that can restore wounds that are thought to be too deep. Before this, there was something that she wanted to abandon in despair, and now it’s pricking Himegami’s heart like thorns.
But,
But there’s something more important than them.
“The frog-face doctor said that I can be discharged either today or tomorrow. However, with this body, I probably won’t be able to take part in the matches.”
“??? Aisa, why do you look somewhat lonely?”
Index looks at her in an unbelievable manner.
Himegami wordlessly shakes her head, however, just like this, the thoughts in her head won’t dispel.
Thus, she says the thing that she originally intended to keep silent about,
“That guy, did he do something reckless again?”
“Hn, that’s right!”
Index says in a clear and cheery tone,
“I haven’t asked about the details, but it seems like the Roman Catholics magicians took advantage of the ‘Daihaseisai festival’ to attack. And this time, Touma didn’t bother discussing things with me before running head on into battle and telling me afterwards.”
As she continues to say this, Index seems to be angry as she starts to bite on the edge of the quilt.
But Himegami doesn’t seem to notice this.
Or rather, she has no time to take that into account.
(Because the magicians from the Roman Catholic Church were here.)
In the end, a certain boy clenched his fist, and went to battle for this reason.
This is an obvious thing. For Kamijou to be with a real magician and arrive beside an injured Himegami, it’s likely that they were battling before she fell. For Himegami Aisa to fall, the boy will rage on seeing her like this. This is like making a detour midway through as they’re trying to complete their ‘biggest objective’.

At first, when she became a prisoner of the alchemist, she wondered, why did the boy work so hard to help her? Himegami again wonders. In fact, there’s nothing between Kamijou Touma and Himegami Aisa that requires Kamijou to work so hard.
(It doesn’t matter no matter who the person is, huh.)
The person that the boy saved isn’t Himegami Aisa.
As long as the person is present, he’ll save the person no matter who the person is.
Even if Himegami Aisa isn’t present.
In his consciousness, she doesn’t exist.
The other party was saved by him. Such an action, especially to Kamijou Touma, isn’t really special. Because to him, that’s a daily action. Just looking at these weeks alone, about every 1 or 2 weeks, he would swing his fist and change another person’s life.

Himegami remains in a sitting posture on the hospital bed as she ponders.
She’s not like the girl in front of her who’s biting on a quilt, who has power and knowledge that others would find worth in saving. And it’s not like she has someone who she can safely rely on the moment the person is beside her, a person who she can interact with without anything between them.
(I, really…)
Himegami slightly lowers her head, her hands lightly grabbing onto the quilt above her knees.
She can’t think of any reason for her to be with that boy.
When Himegami Aisa is in trouble, Kamijou Touma would help out no matter when it is. But, if Kamijou and Himegami have no reason to be together, such actions would be meaningless. In other words, even if he does anything for Himegami, Kamijou is just helping others pay the bill meaninglessly. In most situation, what he pays would often become his wounds.
(Actually…I really shouldn't let him…save me.)
Such a chilly thought appears in her mind.
Like right now, Himegami herself doesn’t have any special ability or talent that is worthy for others to risk their lives to save her. The power in her body would only cause people to be injured or quarrel. This repulsive ability forms her character. In studies or sports, or anything other than ability, there’s nothing that she can win others in.
This sounds really stupid.

Why must she be saved?

Is there a problem? There should be a mistake.
(He already…already promised me.)
And yet he didn’t fulfil the promise. He said that he would visit her before the night parade.
(If so, my values…)
If such a gentle sentence can pressure that person named Kamijou Touma.
(What’s my reason for existing here?)
“…I seem to be…everyone’s baggage.”
She said such cold words, which echoes in her chest.
In contrast, the girl biting onto the quilt suddenly stops.
Besides having power and knowledge that others would risk their lives to save, she has a warm heart that others would find happiness in while being with her.
The nun says,
“Not so, Touma and Aisa seem to be happy together.”
Eh?
At this moment, Himegami Aisa is unable to understand the meaning of this sentence.
But, that pure white nun, who has already been protected by others, slams her cheeks and continues to bite on the quilt.
“Because Touma has been swinging his right fist too much, some part of the skin on his fist was cut.”
She angrily explains to Himegami.
“Basically, for Touma to go to this extent when he hates inconvenience, this should be the reason. Regarding rules and regulations, or for the sake of the world, Touma won’t be serious about it. If it’s anything that he finds irritating…like running away when he’s fighting against many people, he won’t even make a tofu hamburger for me to eat, and completely ignore my lecturing.”
But, Index continues on,
“Touma will always follow what he decides on. Whether it’s becoming enemies with several hundred nuns, or whether it’s heading to the cage of an alchemist who’s controlling several thousand people, he would not back down. Touma has already decided on protecting Himegami. Thus, speaking of the Roman Catholic magicians, or the chaos in Academy City, the most important thing is that Himegami got involved with such unimportant things, he couldn’t forgive them.”
Himegami Aisa hears these words.
She just remains silent as she hears them.
“Because Touma has already protected so many people, he couldn’t understand this clearly. But his feeling of wanting to protect Aisa won’t decrease. He definitely won’t think that Aisa is troublesome. If he was like that, there wouldn’t be so many people gathering around Touma. Since Touma won’t mention this, no one will talk about this, the shackled chains won’t be obvious. But if one knows about all the shackles, the chains formed will be even further and meaningful.
After Index finishes speaking, an air of silence hangs around them.
Himegami wants to say something, but she realises that she can’t make a voice. Her lower jaw and lips are trembling slightly.
She slightly ponders on what is the feeling that causes this trembling.
“Say, Fukiyose-san, what’s with you, coming all the way to a patient’s room and giving him a slap! If you’re so energetic, shouldn't there be no need for you to remain in the hospital!?”
“YOU…YOU SHUT UP!! ANYONE WOULD BE SHOCKED AND TERRIFIED ON SEEING A BOY’S NAKED BODY ALL OF A SUDDEN!!”
“But aren’t you the one who suddenly barged into my room when I was changing?”
“KAMIJOU TOUMA! PREPARE YOURSELF! ARE YOU STILL SLEEPY? THEN, TO BOOST YOUR BRAIN ACTIVITY, YOU NEED RED TEA WITH LOTS AND LOTS OF TANNIC ACID, THERE’S LOADS OF IT INSIDE, SO DRINK UP!!”
“HOT!! HOT!! YOU…YOU IDIOT! IS THERE A NEED TO HIDE YOUR EMBARRASSMENT BY DUNKING HOT TEA INTO SOMEONE’S THROAT!!”
A ruckus comes from the corridor.
Accompanied by frantic footsteps that aren’t suitable for a quiet morning hospital room.
“Himegami’s room should be here, but isn’t it too inconvenient to come over so suddenly?”
“Eh? Himegami may not say much, but it doesn’t mean that she likes to be silent. Just observe, her lips will slightly curl up when she’s happy. I thought that Fukiyose-san would know about this, since she likes to take care of others silently.”
“Likes to take care of others?…Who are you talking about?”
“Eh. I’m talking about you. You didn’t know where Himegami’s room is, yet you came over to find me, and you spent 30 minutes fussing about what fruits to buy at the fruit shop, so you should be someone who likes to think about your friends…HOT!? I SAID THAT YOU CAN’T STUFF DOWN RED TEA LIKE THAT! FORGET ABOUT HOW ACTIVE MY MIND IS, JUST HURRY UP AND GET HIMEGAMI TO OUR CLASSMATES! I even borrowed a wheelchair here.”
“Today’s first match is the extremely draining inter-school male cavalry match. Group A battle. Why can’t I arrange for the injured to go over and cheer for them!?”
Index stops biting onto the quilt and looks in the direction where the sound came from. All she sees is a curtain separating them. Himegami also looks in the direction where Index is looking, still grabbing onto a remote control that can open and close the curtains.
“You…do you know what that guy, why does he continue to fight even with all those injuries?”
“About this, I don’t know either.”
Index replies without any hesitation.
“I asked him before, and he said that he’s doing it for himself. Maybe to Touma, that’s happiness?”
Himegami presses the button on the remote control.
The curtains are opened.
In front of Himegami Aisa, is the world that she’s looking forward to.
