Looking forward to the next episode about 9 hours from now(with this and Ozuma, it's like a late morning Saturday Sci-fi block on Crunchyroll. Yes, looking forward to today's shows). |

Mobirates 11 - The Keys to Maaku Space
That's probably the biggest challenge Marika's faced yet. A big ball of space no-goodness. Whenever the universe is turning rainbow, that means you've entered into Ludicrous Speed, or something nearly as bad. I am interested in the conflict between the sisters that will play out in the next episode - that's character driven stuff, which I'm more interested in than the mechanical dealies. (Plus, more Hisako Kanemoto). The ships are cool and all, but it's the people in them that I'm investing my time in. Some of the graphics for the stuff in space were really gorgeous. The scene where the ghost ship comes out of its ghostiness, if only for a moment, comes to mind. It'd be hard to miss that thing in the middle of the universe. The show's still doing a good job maintaining narrative tension and keeping things fairly lighthearted, so, props for that. |

That was certainly an interesting episode. Spatial rips that nearly rip out an engine, Grunhilde and Gruelle arguing and Grunhilde saying that Gruelle lowered herself to the level of a pirate. Yeah, I wouldn't go around insulting the crew of the Bentenmaru.
So the name of the colony ship was the Queen Serendipity (also the name of the battleship that Grunhilde is presumably on). Kane certainly docked the Bentenmaru inside the colony ship like a BOSS. Those Corbacks looked like they were getting pretty close to the Bentenmaru too. Marika had an awesome moment too where she told Gruelle that she's coming with her no matter what she says. Next episode looks like it's gonna be intense. |

Ordinarily I'd have lots of assorted commentary, but that episode was just excellent and left me wanting more. I'm really interested in finding out not only what the political conflicts dividing the sisters are (not to mention what Gruier was implying about the meaning of Grunhilde wearing a uniform in apparent (figurehead?) command of the battleship), but just what it is about the Queen Serendipity that has everybody chasing it anyway, and what it means for Serenity.
As always, liked the interactions among the crew, the various special effects and visuals, Kane showing that he's more than just a pretty face...I note that we got a glimpse of the "regular" crew members in a couple of scenes (for some reason, I'd gotten the impression from the previous episode that the bridge crew was the Bentenmaru's entire crew... ), and I enjoyed getting the first nearly-bird's-eye view of the bridge in the show so I could get a better understanding of the layout. I'm also really enjoying the fact that now that they're on a serious mission over the past two episodes, the crew is actually treating Marika like a captain instead of a kid that they're babysitting. Even allowing for the traditional independence of pirate crews (ironically, something historically not associated with privateers!), the captain is supposed to be someone you trust to lead you in times of crisis. ...Also, I've pretty much resigned myself that I'm going to spend most of Misa's scenes desperately wanting someone to slap her across the face. She annoys the living daylights out of me.

The crew of the Bentenmaru seems to get caught unaware and lucked out when it came to the shock waves. I guess it shows even the most weathered crew can be caught unprepared but they coped well. This episode had more "fiction" than "science" while it had been science-heavy in all other episodes.
While I eagerly look forward to next week in order to find out the Princesses' motives, this week felt rather "messy". Exciting stuff nonetheless.

Definately a Kirk, aren't you Marika? Ship and crew first and insisting on going out on the mission. Trying to read her opponents and guests. Even learning the....direct ways, to fly into a structure.
Yui Horie still sounds the same when her characters get all excited. That Imperial battleship looked fairly nasty...even in purple. Much more so than the Corback escorts. Next week looks interesting with a boarding action and what looks like a standoff between Princesses at gunpoint.

That was awesome when they were in the same area as the ghost ship was appearing. So Gruier little sister is leading the serenity forces. Kane's docking of the ship was cool as well. So its finally time to see the inside of it.

Two princesses/sisters pitted against each other... that's always interesting two watch. The person manipulating Loli Char behind the curtains is most likely that minister guy we saw a couple episodes ago (he's in the preview too). What are they all so desperate to their hands of the ship? What kind of secrets could it be hiding? We'll finally find out next week... I hope.
By the way, I can only agree with Marika: the little sister is cute as well. Let's add her to the space harem too!

"Are you not entertained? Is that not why you are here?"
Seriously this week's episode was great, the ending came way too soon.I too was surprised to see other crew members, had we seen any before? Favorite line from the episode was when Marika said "Damage report....can come later". Seriously,in the situation they're in,screw the procedures! Anywone watching Ozuma that just started airing? When I saw the captain in that show I thought "that's so Marika in a few years"

Sure. A couple of times. We've seen some of Schnitzer's security guys when Marika first boarded the Princess Apricot, and again when they picked up the data Gruelle's people brought in from Serenity. We've seen other crewmembers wandering the corridors on occasion, including a few taking note of the "trainee" sign on Marika's back, and one reacting in shock to the 'gunshot wound' on Kane after his performance on the Princess Apricot. There have probably been a few other times as well.

The ship's navigator seems less that useful if you want information out of her. She said something that sounded important, can a direct question from her Captain about what that means and responded "I don't know".
