Am I the only one who thinks Beck is way to over hyped up?
I'm not saying Becks is a God. What I am saying is that the spot itself made him hit the ball so badly, you could tell by his reaction.

Bah, I'm too pissed off after watching that knowing the ref stopped us winning.
and did you notice those portuguese that were allowed to make a few fake moves before kicking the ball. I thought penalties were suppose to be a straight kick ...

not to mention Campbell's unrightfully cancelled goal ...

too bad Beckham is gonna get all the crap again after playing a good game.

Yeah everyones totally gutted here too, never helps when you have to play against 12 men, that Ref was doing a great impression of having been bribed.

Portugal overall had the best of the play but sometimes luck see's you through to the next round and you can compose yourself for the following match, after only two days rest though the England boys looked tired compared to the home team who had the advantage of being used to the conditions.

Oh well England out again on penalties..........

Calm down, it was a foul after all; you are not allowed to impede the Keeper in the 5m field (most likely the wrong vocabulary but you know what I mean). You mustn't tackle the Keeper. The ref could have given that Goal or he couldn't - it was his choice. Either way, one team would have complained.

I'm sorry for all the England fans, but it was a good game of both. The Portuguese didn't win just because of luck but because of their aggressiveness.

Spoiler for Some pics from the Penalty Shootouts::

Poor guy Vassell was crying I hope the English media does not bash him that much because it is hard on him anyway...

You know that if you hit the goalie while he is on 5meters line equals a immediate red card, don't you?

It depends on the severity of the tackle although it remains a foul nonetheless.

EDIT: The German TV broadcasts a comedy show about football the moment I write, speak about bad taste. ^_^

Terry had his eyes on the ball, never on the keeper. His arms just went up with his body; he didn't do it to stop the keeper getting the ball. Terry didn't foul the keeper... It was a goal.

By the way, I'm sorry for my language. I'm just in a REALLY bad mood after that.

well, was a close game ish. Wasn't a foul on the goalkeeper at all because he didn't run to block him on purpose, he was in that position before the keeper was and he wasn't blocking the keeper deliberately (e.g. getting in his way when the ball is miles away). If anything the keeper fouled them because he tried to push them out the way to get to the ball. If thats the case that is a foul, then everyone should just clear the way for the keeper to come out every time a cross comes in like from a corner or they will be fouling him by getting in his way.

I don't want this to turn into a slanging match but the keeper wasn't "hit" at all, he was caught completely out of position and was desperately backpedalling. He didn't even try to collect it and Sol nodded it home.

Also if you watch the replay of Beckham's free kick you'll see that the ball moves before he kicks it because of the bad condition of the penalty spot, if Portugal had gone first who knows what would have happened with their penalty taker.

Oh well its over now and Portugal are through, good luck to you.

So lets just leave it there.

You have absolutely no idea in hell what suffering is, unless you've supported England all these years.

Believe me, I had my share! But you're right in a way, everyone suffers. I'm just soo happy, I don't usually get like this because of a football game!

Do I sense hatred for Beckham? I don't like him myself but cut him some slack, he was the first to go and had the most pressure on him. He tried to take the pressure of the team by going first - it's just unfortunate that he missed.
(Also, the balling rolling away is not clear as well because the penalty would have been repeated if the ball rolled away on its own)

Btw: Did you photoshop that yourself or is it an older pic implying that Beckham sux at penalty shoot outs? (Or does he just tend to wear wigs after lost games? )
