I've played the original so many times, it was my favorite. I'll definitely be getting this even if they didn't add anything new.

Just tried the gameplay out yesterday - not too bad. Seems like a "port out" than a remake, i suppose. The DS version is making use of its functionality - enable us to choose between the DS mode (making use of the dual screen and your touchscreen feature with stylus) and the Classic mode (single screen - just like the good old days). More game features - to check out maps, monster's stats and treasure - better modification than the original SNES platform in the 1995.

Character-wise remain the same with Crono, Lucca and Marle et al. But, what i heard was that there will be one extra ending to it... because a new dungeon is being included in this DS version. Not too sure about that - since I am only one hour into the gameplay.

Everything just look to be nostalgia to me with the old Chrono songs and the character designs, plotlines etc....

But I guess this should be one of the classic games that the nintendo fans will remember and love!!

yes, it depends on your system setting. If you are using english for your system setting, the game will appear in the english format.

I saw a magazine scan that possibly hints at what the new ending is about.

Um.. maybe because it was never supposed to be a remake. It is an enhaced port, that's all there is to CT DS.

Spoiler for save space:

Chrono Trigger DS sounds interesting, but from the looks of the screenshots, there is much difference between this version and the snes version. However, based on the Wikipedia entry, it is an enhanced port of the psx and features many jewels including the psx anime opening, anime cut-scenes from the psx version, as well as a few new dungeons.

The UI is reworked, but the battle system, gameplay and graphics are intact.

Added stuff, and reworked UI doesn't mean a game was remade. It is just like the DQ games on DS, they are enhaced ports, with slightly improved sprites.

Neither of them are remakes like FFIII and IV.

Elements of Radical Dreamers are also revisited since Chrono Cross was designed as a drastic re-envisioning of that story.

With regard to the CT and CC connection, CC does occur after the events of CT. Other than that, I agree with rg4619 that the connection is only truly established very late in the game. Personally, I blame this to Masato Kato's penchant for complicating things ala Xenogears.

I remember the Chrono Compedium website. Just reading the timeline and all the various speculation makes it seem as if the overall story has grown too big for the these two games.

The new endings pretty much connects CC/CT directly apparentally, not that I care. I hated CC anyway.

Spoiler for MAJOR SPOILER FOR NEW FINAL BOSS AND ENDING:

I think I'm the only guy here who likes both CT and CC. Well I guess their fatal mistake was
Spoiler for disappointing CC revelation:

EDIT: Also, I take it that there still be no use for the Singing Mountain track. What a shame.

Nope, you're not alone.

CC is just like FFXII in the sense that it's "controversial".

It was controversial in that it simply had too many characters, weak gameplay and mediocre music. CC's music really was alot less inspiring outside of those few spectacular pieces.
