They might as well have just ripped them from those games and saved themselves the embarassment.

This should have been a PSP game. The sprites look scaled to fit that screen size more then they do for a PS3 game. I can't even imagine looking at this on my 54".

Same day release though. We'll see what reigns supreme in Japan among Otaku, 20+ mecha anime series crossover with lush detailed sprites or 5 game franchise mostly moe girl characters crossover with uninspired sprites. It's going to be a Barn Burner!
Get use to it, this is how IF netherworld did all of their games. They made their fame through mass production of unrefined games and feeding off specific niche audience who could stand those games.

I can't even fathom why they don't simply release it on the Wii releasing a game like this for a HD console does not do 2D any favours.

Because they're contracted with sony, and seeing how all the characters are from ps2 games (minus the disgaea DS port) it's more logical to think that they have more fans on the playstation scene than the nintendo one... and making it for the ps3 is yet another ploy to increase sales by forcing loyal fans to shell out the dough to see their favorite characters in action again.

I'm pretty aware its mostly a marketting ploy or fanservice given the copius ammounts of breasts featured (hey they didn't even feature the main character of Disgaea and Spectral Souls, probably because they're guys) but this is more like a slap in the face of most of the loyal fans. I mean someone actually pointed out to me the Ar Tonelico sprites/attacks have been ripped directly from the game with no change at all. You'd have to be borderline obssessive or have WAY too much money to buy this game, much like the people who actually bought a PS3 just for Disgaea 3.

Also I'm not sure about them being contracted seeing NIS have been releasing a bunch of their stuff for DS recently, though it might be limited to home consoles I suppose. But in the past I'm pretty sure its been mentioned before NIS simply don't like Nintendo's rules.

So I must be rich for getting a PlayStation 3 to play Disgaea 3 & Cross Edge? Never though of it that way.

I think you're overestimating the minds of the fans. If that's the way you see it then you're simply not one of the people this game was marketed towards.

Yep, I'd get the game, both games actually, if I have PS3 now.

Such games as created for fan service in the first place and its there to target fans for obvious reasons.

As they've already said... this game's a total licensing mess... and too bad it's on the PS3.
Still, more Ar Tonelico is welcome.

Well screw waiting if a North American version ever happens I'm definitely importing after those dozen videos. Marlone's attack was epic.

I don't know about you but Famitsu can't be trusted with reviews, to me that is. Record of Agarest War(6-7-6-5 24/40:6/10) & Tears to Tiara: Kakan no Daichi(6-7-6-6 25/40:7/10) got similar mixed scores too. A "4"...

Has Dengeki reviewed it yet?

Edit: Not yet I guess.
