Norn9 Norun + Nonetto Anticipation

Quote:
Idea Factory/Design Factory's Otomate brand announced that Norn9 - Norn + Nonette, its PSP otome game for female players, has an anime in the works. Otomate made the announcement at the "Norn9 with Ark & for Spica" event at Tokyo's Nakano Sun Plaza on Sunday. The event also announced the sale of character image songs produced by composer Kevin Penkin and a PlayStation Vita port of Norn9.

Plot Summary:
The story takes place a little in the future. Guided by one particular song, young elementary school student Suzuhara Sorata, from the Heisei Era, is warped through a time skip to an unfamiliar place that looks much like the towns from the Meiji or Taishou period from his textbooks. In this world, he meets three young ladies and nine young men and joins them on a journey aboard the mysterious Norn ship, a giant globe that floats in midair.

Announced over a year ago, the official site is finally opened today (few hours ago):

The series is based on an otome game with a sizable character cast. The release date is still unknown yet though.

Oh man, what's with this otome double-header? Code Realize and Norn9 getting anime? These are both games coming to the west this fall as well. Otome fans will most likely be very pleased by this news.

I heard both good things about Norn9 and CR.

CR sounds like it might be more fun while Norn9 sounds angsty. But three MCs and a small group of guys for each instead of the usual 5guys + 1 girl scenario? Might be fun.

^ Might be fun, or viewers could get twelve episodes revolving around thirteen characters. Yup, that's definitely not a disaster in the making.

But I'm more interested in the fact that the protagonist seems to be a boy. It might mean we could have more of an emphasis on plot rather than the usual superficial touching upon of each character that adds little to no complexity to the show or relationships. I don't think any otome adaptation has come close to La Corda d'Oro: Primo Passo, whose anime and manga I really enjoyed; granted, it was actually given a proper number of episodes to tell its story.

Gah. Scenery porn in a preview is fast becoming the easiest way to sell me into trying a new anime.

I heard a lot of good hype for this game, so I'll probably watch at least a few episodes to see if it holds my interest, especially since OnoD, Noriaki Sugiyama, Sugita and CCP from Touken Ranbu among the cast...

I don't think this is going to be as hilariously dirty as Dance with Devils

It looks like it has the potential to be loads better than Devils. With such a large cast though, they really need to give it more than the standard one cour that otome adaptations are getting. Otherwise, it's probably just going to bomb hard like all the others. :/

The visuals look good though.

at 12/13 episodes? They're going to have to focus like three episodes on one girl/harem and tie it together somehow...I guess.

Has anyone played this? Is there a casual route since most adaptations of games like this usually take that road?

UtaPri would like to have a word with you. I don't know about the others, but the UtaPri anime is selling like hotcakes. I guess that's what you get when you combine idols with harems... (The production team is doing a pretty good job promoting it, too.)

I don't know about this show - the cast seems too large, but I guess eventually they'll just focus on the heroine and Kaji Yuuki's character, so if they do it right they can keep it relatively tight.

I haven't gotten a chance to play the game yet, but the main protag in the game starts off as Sorata Suzuhara. Then there are three female MC's you can choose from, and each female has three love interests you can follow.

Some time ago I read Hinano's review of the game. The game is apparently kind of convoluted. Her review has a final thoughts section towards the bottom where she gives her general impressions and what players can expect from the game. Of course if you want to read it, read it at your own risk.

I have to agree, lovely PV. I'm interested in seeing how they weave all the storylines together.

Sentai announced that its streaming site, The Anime Network Online, would carry the simulcast for the show. It's a true simulcast with the Japanese broadcast. Norn9 will debut
