That is pretty funny, but imho, I don't see Haruki as that kind of person (it goes against his GAR-ness)

Anyway, I thought I'd take a shot at a rewriting the first novel a little bit:

Spoiler:

“Why didn’t you come yesterday? I thought that you wanted to hold a debriefing...”

As usual, I turned and spoke to Haruki behind me before the homeroom session.

Lying flat on the table, with his chin on the surface, Haruki said with an annoyed look, “Stop bugging me! I’ve already had the debriefing! In fact, I did it yesterday, alone.”

Why do I get the feeling that he retraced his steps from the outing last Saturday?

“I was afraid I might have missed something, so I thought it would be safer to double-check.”

I’d always thought it was only detectives who believed criminals would return to the scene of the crime, but I was wrong.

“It’s hot as hell! When is the school gonna switch uniforms? I wanna get rid of these long sleeves!”

You're not the only one! Too bad they don’t change seasons till June, and there’s only one week left till May finishes.

“Suzumiya, maybe I’ve said this before, but I think you’d better stop looking for those mysterious events, and try to live a normal high school life.”

He would lift his head and scowl at me... I was anticipating that kind of reaction, yet Haruki’s head remained stuck on the table. It seems he’s really exhausted. “A normal high school life? What kind of nonsense is that?”

He doesn’t sound interested at all.

“Something like finding a decent girlfriend. You might even stumble upon an alien while you’re dating. That’ll be two birds with one stone, that’s not too bad right?” I started thinking about Asahina’s conversation with me that day while making such a suggestion.

“Besides, there are plenty of girls lining up for you. All you need is to hold back that eccentric behavior of yours and your perfect girlfriend will arrive.”

“Hmph, it doesn’t matter if I have a girlfriend or not! All this so called love is just a temporary confusion of the mind, a hormone induced mental illness.” Haruki said exhaustedly while lying on the desk and looking out the window.

“Actually, I do tend to think about this stuff from time to time. I am an energetic guy after all, plus my body has its needs. But I’m not dumb enough to take on this troublesome stuff just because of a short moment of incoherence. And if I’m too busy dating, what happens to the SOS Brigade? I just founded it!”

Technically it’s not founded yet.

“Then why not create a club that involves some form of entertainment? That would attract more members for sure.”

“No.”

Haruki flatly refused.

“I founded the SOS Brigade because all the other normal clubs were too boring, and I’ve recruited a guy like Asahina and a mysterious transfer student as well! Why hasn’t anything happened yet? Sigh, it’s about time something strange happened.”

This is the first time I’ve seen Haruhi this depressed, but he’s cute like that too. For a cute girl like her, she’s pretty enough even when she’s not smiling, it’s such a pity, the more I think about it.

Haruhi spent the rest of the day sleeping soundly. What’s amazing is, the teachers never noticed......No, this has to be a coincidence.

^ I see Haruki sleeping soundly as something that would disturb the rest of the class (read: obnoxious snoring). But the teacher won't do anything about it, as delinquent-type students are beyond help.

I've started to get used to the whole idea with headphones. I even used them when I did a "scetch" of Haruki and Kyonko when trying out my new pencils (they're hardly visible in the pic, though). I figured I might as well, since it has become more and more common for him to have them. They're pretty cool though, so I'm not complaining.

Here's the scetch, by the way:

I know the perspective, body proportions and whatnots are off, but since it was just a pretty fast try-out scetchy-picture, I couldn't bring myself to start fixing them. I hope they're not too hard to ignore. I wasn't originally going to post it due to the flaws, but I decided that even though it doesn't look quite right, it's the idea that matters. I hope I was right

Okay. I'm sorry if that came out as offensive. but I was under the assumption that the trans are used as a base since I've found several his/her discrepancies in the other chapters I've read so far so I thought... It's not like I'm telling people to just edit the chapter but rather make it easier for conversion. But apparently, that idea wasn't too viable...^^;

For what it's worth, I wrote my ramble on not copy-and-pasting before I saw your post, so call it a coincidence. (Yes, I often take a long time in the Reply To Thread page, sometimes an hour or more. This may or may not be surprising.)

In my case, the his/her discrepancies are because I love the series so much that I can't help but think of the characters as their canon genders, and so I keep messing up. This was the primary reason why I was pushing so hard for Female Itsuki to have a different name ("Itsuko" is different enough), since otherwise you'll be seeing a lot more mistakes from me.
