Well I thought I was going to fool at least someone, but yeah. I already seen all the illustrations at Baka-Tsuki. I didn't know the content behind them, but I did felt that the relationship of Alice followed that pattern. Still Seitsuki, it does kind of answer your question how Emi and Maou progress as a couple, being adopted mother and father does count right?

So Maou's background is like that... figures since he's not the typical kind of maou...(excluding the maou from DXD)
That's gonna sting for Chi-chan...

Though doesn't it seem strange base from Maou's background. Typically a Goblin does not have horns, does have pointy ears, a large pointy nose, short, and green.

It seems like Maou's background should be something like the New Jersey Devil who has horns, attacks mainly with bare hands, large in size, and has hooves.

Their progress in relationship seems to run at a similar pace to Horimiya so it'll probably take more volumes and assuming all of the human race of Ente to be their enemies for an actual development... considering the possibilities...
If she's the enemy of the people she can't be really called as a hero right? and be labeled the same as him...
Emi aside... is there any form of dev Chi-chan has to Maou?

I think Maou was saying "goblin-class" as in "cannon-fodder-class"

True, but you got to admit that it seems like a strange coincidence. Maybe the author took some inspiration from the New Jersey Devil when creating Maou's Devil form.

Does anyone know which country came up with this "Hero defeats Demon Lord" cliche? It sounds European, but on further thought "Prince saves princess from dragon/evil witch" seems more their thing.

It's not a cliche! What goes up must come down, there is no such thing as a free lunch, and the Hero defeats the Demon King. It just is.

No need to be sensitive about it, lets just say it is an old story. Though I doubt it is from Europe, most stories from Europe revolves around, yes a hero, and saving a lady from a dragon or Devils or something. The one culture I know that is always about Demon Lords is actually Japan so its like a mixture of European and Japanese folk lore.

I'm thinking more along the lines of mixing European folklore and Dungeon Master, hence Hero vs Evil Overlord

Anyone know a place which summarises the content of each vol then? EN or JP is fine, CN unfortunately not.

I didn't mean it like that. I just didn't have a word for it and I was referring to the fact that there are a lot of LN series that use this template.

Urgh.. sorry. I don't take things on the net very seriously, so I don't expect people to take me very seriously either. If that came off as too earnest, my apologies.

Don't worry about it. In hindsight, "cliche" may have been too strong and give the wrong idea.

I feel like there is something wrong with the McDonald replication in the story. MgRonalds don't have the Mcchicken sandwich and the Mcnuggets, and the Quarter pounder shown thus far.
