For what it's worth, in the live-action version, Tsugumi does call Hajime "otousan" - which is a good thing, given that she's played by Irie Saaya. It would look too creepy otherwise. |

I really like this series so far, only on ep 7 though
I wish it wasn't licensed then it could have its own big thread like other unlicenced and currently airing animes. T_T I hope Amray-san posts here!

Actually, it is not currently airing. Back when it was currently airing it was unlicensed, but it never had a large enough following to get more than the 20 pages you see here.
Quality is very different from Popular.

As I said, quality has nothing to do with popularity. If you want to find the best shows don't pay too much attention to the size of the thread or wonder if it has its own forum.

It had a few great episodes, and a good resolution (and an even better one in its second season), but overall, it was a bit too repetitive. It had a great story concept, but unfortunately, it failed to develop its premise to its full potential. All too often, the culprits in Jigoku Shouju deserved their punishment and the resolutions were often too simplistic. The series failed to exploit the various moral dilemmas that could have occured in many situations and opted for the obvious way out too often for my liking. In a way, you could regard Jigoku Shoujo as a more accessible version of Death Note. It doesn't demand too much from a viewer and it certainly is a lot easier on the eyes — Enma Ai easily qualifies as of the prettiest harbingers of doom I've seen in recent memory. All said and done, 20 plus 12 pages isn't all that bad, especially when you consider how some anime threads don't even get that far. Some of the posts in either threads were pretty good too. So yeah, I'd say 20+12 is at least somewhat indicative of this show's quality. |

3rd season announced. More details are yet to be released. I'll believe it when I see the first ep.
Oh, and for a more nuanced view, get the manga. The mangaka did a pretty good job with the moral stuff. |

This thread's title is the same as the title of the first season. Lest anyone else be confused I've added to the thread title to make it absolutely clear.
