hmm.. seeing even kj giving an average.. I assumed it bores most game player since you already know the BG story... I vote 8 as it explain the story quite well .. There are still questions about the old man in the church but I guess it will be revealed later in the series ...

Overall, its a good episode (hi-speed internet, my foot) and I don't feel like typing it all up in sentences and make it all look fat:

- The rules of the Holy Grail War that serve as the foundations of the plot has been explained by the sleep inducing Kotomine. Boring x2 for the game players. *yawn* (Ahh well, nothing that we could do about here..)
- Lancer vs. Saber (although I did prefer the visuals from Curtain Raiser where Lancer takes three lunges at Saber instead of his sudden 'in your face' charge and one particular sound effect, the rushing wind effect when Saber is just about to smash Lancer)
- Lancer's true name revealed. GAE BOLG! (Can anyone say, 'KAMEHAMEHA'?)
- Archer getting hurt against Saber (Going towards the Fate arc if its following the game)
- Ilya and Beserker footage! ~<3

I found Saber's VA suprisingly good compared to her voice-acting at Zoids New Century (Leena) when I heard the Curtain Raiser audio (when it got leaked). It still impresses me now. :D

Actually, if you look carefully, Lancer still stabbed his lance thrice, rather than just one dash. It's just that Lancer is so fast that he can strike 3 times when it looked like 1. I'd prefer this over the Curtain Raiser, where it looked like Lancer was half-assing his lance jolts which were supposed to be lighting fast.

QFT, I loved his work in Gankutsuou, Escaflowne, Keroro Gunso and V Gundam. But it almost seems like that guy is made for this role.

Anyway I thought the explanation of how the game works was really "hitting around the bush" aka lasting longer then needed. The fight in the beginning was mediocre but besides all that I am looking forward to the next episode.

I have to say i quite enjoyed that, explained the story nicely (still lots of things i dont know about and curious about). I liked the fight scenes, i gave it an 8!

I give this episode a 6. The explaination of the rules was appreciated since I haven't played the game. The entire grail war seems to be somewhat stupid but if there is something japanese games and anime has teached me it's to never trust anything a priest says. >_> (Heck, the curch is evil in 9/10 cases in anime and games

)
The fight in the beginning of the episode was great! I love high-budget shows.

this episode was good, not the best b/c it had too much explaining and thinking and not too much fighting, just a few bangs with the swords and stuff and then more explaining. not getting a very good vibe from the priest and i like the cliffhanger at the end of the episode. keeps us on the edge of our chairs [well at least some of us, the ones that havent played the game before] ilyas "onii-chan" poked at my "primula oniichan" memory a lot. ilya could be my new favourite...or not :P rin and archer[<<more hawtness] atw for now. 7/10.

The anime primula's oniichan and Ilya's oniichan are no where alike, other than its the same word. The meaning, context, and person using it are completely different
