Nobody knows who he's talking to yet. There is a scene like that in the manga where dungbeetle is talking to something out of thin air (though he is talking about completely different things than what he is talking about in the anime). Let's just at least hope that Mohiro Kitoh told the anime production scene wtf was up with that so if they decide to reveal it in the last few episodes, it won't be a 180 from the manga whenever it reveals it.


Just watched ep 7. Decent retelling of Chizu's story though of course ep 8 is where all the action will be. I think the biggest complaints we'll here from people about this ep is the animation. Something was really off in this episode.

Seeing as though we know the anime shall see a different ending to the manga (mainly because we have no manga ending yet), it makes you wonder if Gonzo plan to change whoever Dung Beetle was talking to. For all we know, we won't even find out in the manga until the anime has ending.

Well for this episode Koemushi behaved highly malicious, insiduous or cynical. Or maybe it's giving just that needed extra push to the kids to strip off their naiveness and act according to what their fear of death drives them to really want to do.

I think that Chizu was just messing with Isao to shake him off her. That or maybe it was something else...

Whatever the case I've never expected the adults to at last come to make the connection between the children and the ZEarth and other robot apparitions.

Who knows, they might just add new material episode in-between --- though it does make more sense for it to be Daichi's story. I still feel its a shame they didn't have his story where it should have been. He's the first kid to accept whats to happen, and fights to protect the earth, and his family. Thats a good start of the series if you ask me.

Man, i'm getting goosebumps just thinking about how good his arc is going to be animated.

Bokurano redeems itself from a slightly lackluster episode with a power blasted episode on several revelations of the game. There are so many shocks at the last three minutes of this episode, and brings about a sense of confusion when it seemed that the goal is in fact somewhat clear. It seems that whenever a glimpse of hope is given, the ugliest side of man, even innocent children who were not stained by the world of the adults, would appear.

Revenge is on the cards, and Chizu will be the one dealing the pain.

So according to Impz's blog, Episode 8 does indeed do the following:

This is great! However, now is a great time for anime vs manga speculation since:

The manga just recently revealed that Jun was the un-contracted kid. This means that he didn't actually sign the contract and that Yoko wasn't excluded despite being last. Jun signs the contract in the anime, but since the kids don't go in the order they signed it, it could be ANYONE who's still alive at this point. Oh noes, what will the anime do??

I have yet to sit down and watch episode 5. I'm checking out the manga chapters right now. I can see much similarities and differences based on the direction the anime it taking. But it's like things happens so much faster in the manga. It's like 'Kokopelli' chapters BOOM done, 'Waku' chapter BOOM it's over and 'Kodama' BOOM it's done. No visiting his fat cat dad. It's like I got a little extra out of the anime for that segment alone. Showing his admiration for his dad. Even though he's a fat cat. But I don't feel like the comparison was that much of a problem. The one thing I did notice looking at 'Zearth' is that the designs while similar are not that similar. I figured they had to really simplify the robot design in order to work it into CG mode. The manga version of it looks a lot scarier and more Japanese oriented. Meaning if you look closely at it the design resembles that of a warrior priest. The armor covering over it's legs are longer like, the clothing a 'Tengu' would wear. Even the head if you look closely it. While it looks like a scaled plate it's design resembles that sort of hat those priest wear. And the face plate, where it shows the 14 lights, resembles that of a shroud with symbols on it.

It's easy to see these little things especially if you're big into Japanese culture. You never see it anywhere else.

They should put a picture up on the wiki of the robot so that viewers can see the differences in the design since the info entered is for both the anime and manga.

It's got to be Mako Nakarai's story, especially since her nickname is Nakama. Looks like Daichi's story is only 1 episode. Given this order, it seems very possible that the anime is going back to the original order. Though this means Moji will be next after Nakama. :/

oh did anyone else notice Seki was back in episode 8? Guess a missing hand won't stop him from playing his role in the story.

Finally finished ep 8. It was pretty much how I expected it to be. the only thing that bothered me was Moji saying that they were down 2 pilots and that it would be a problem, and Seki in the end saying that he and Tanaka should sign up...

...shouldn't dungbeetle be the one to tell them that this would have to happen? How on earth would Moji know that they were screwed if they didn't have all the pilots. He shouldn't have known that rule nor could he deduce it from the facts known so far.

Strange thing: Kana is listed above Nakama in the credits. Actually, the entire credits order seems to have changed:

Chizu is first obviously, then Maki (who was 2nd before Waku), and then Machi/Anko/Kanji, which is an odd combination because manga readers know that they last the longest besides the non-contracted kids). Seems like the anime is gearing up to make them the main characters so to speak. Kanji and Machi have a LOT of lines in this episode.

It's not surpirsing that Daichi's episode will be 1 episode long, as his story was short like Waku's and Kodama's, so I figured. I'm actually curious how many episodes Nakama will get, considering hers is longer than the first 3, but shorter than the ones coming after. I think it's possible to stuff that in 1 episode as well. I also expect some cuts in her story, and a change of activity at the end of it :x.

Pretty good episode/story to make up for the gonzofuckery of the Kako and Chizu storylines. Though the events were almost completely different, the story was essentially the same as the manga's, and some key scenes such as the ending scene with Daiichi's siblings were kept intact.

I think it's dumb that Daichi had to actually go to his room and sit on his chair to enter Zearth. Dungbeetle should have just summoned him.

Maki didn't punch Ushiro after his snark reply to Daichi. A pity, Ushiro was pretty subdued in this episode.

Boy the end credits list sure looks a lot smaller! Kana, Komo, and Machi had no lines in this episode. Kana I can understand, but Machi? The new credits order from the previous ep is also maintained here, with Nakama dead last in the credits order. Speaking of Nakama, she's up next.

Seki signing the contract with his fake hand at first was pretty funny. I thought for sure they would write him out of the anime but guess Gonzo has something planned for him.

Looks like Gonzo changed the design of Nakama's costumes. Well no big deal, just hope the girls are still wearing skirts. Other than that, it seems like the part of Nakama's story where she sells herself is intact.
