I'm really, really impressed thus far. Haven't seen this promising of an anime for a while. The pacing, script, and chemistry between the main characters are all just perfect. It even throws a great curve ball every now and then (The Mister Philesdes). There's also a mysterious past with the aurora and the effect it had on the two MCs.

It has hit everything so far.

Awesome episode. I love how Kai turned that defeat into a victory... after the battle had already been lost.

The main duo most certainly like each other, no developments in that area so far though.

it looks like his sickness is making his thought process faster thus in resulting that everything looks slow in his perspective quite opposite to the girl who has increase in thought process making everything goes faster.

MR. Pleidas doesn't just remember me of star driver guy. He also reminds me of Mr. Satan in Dragonball Z with his MR and all his acts.

Also the design on his uniform is very similar to that of ranking officers in Zeon.
Maybe it’s a sign that fans of older UC Gundams like us has become rarer and rarer (following the path of endangered species).

He mentioned it in episode 2 when he spoke of Aki's sickness. She processes 5 minutes as 1 second, and he does the opposite. He processes 1 second as 5 minutes, which will obviously make him almost a super hero at some point in the series.

I don't think he ever mentioned that he had a similar condition as Aki in that episode.

I agree with Jan-Poo. I don't remember Kai mentioning that he was also sick when he described Aki's illness. Furthermore, based on his confusion during episode 3, I don't think he had a clue that he might be ill as well. I don't think he understood what was happening to him then.

I do think he's been ill all this time without his knowing it though. I think his illness explains why he's so good at the game. Remember, he's good enough that other players think he's using some cheat. But I suspect that until now, the illness hasn't presented any noticeably odd symptoms like the double-vision he experienced. In other words, Kai's illness has finally progressed to the point where he noticed for the first time that something could be wrong with him.

Kai being good at games (especially at kill-ballad) has nothing to do with the condition. Later episodes should explain why he's good at games, why FrauKojirou thinks he's a cheater, and why FrauKojirou provided him with the source code so he can use the same system to control a hobby robot.

Spoiler for Condition explanation timing:

Compared to fans of newer Gundams, like...AGE, fans of UC are legion.

That said, regardless of my own love of UC, it'd be blind stubbornness on my part to pretend there isn't a very large segment of anime watchers who were introduced to Gundam via Gundam SEED.

Like the same otaku stubbornness that pretends Robotech wasn't a hugely impressionable piece of media for getting western anime fans into anime.

And, yes, we are now officially veering way off topic.

well he did say "hold on [body] just a bit more". which can mean to say he knew something might happen if he gets really exhausted. remember he said in previous episode that aki's condition happens when she tires herself. on the other hand he might just think that he will just fall asleep on his feet ^^, and not experience BURST LINK incidentally his laid back personality similar to Oreki's low energy consumption lifestyle may also have been the reason the condition never manifested before. Either way not enough info for a definite conclusion so further episodes needed.

As has been said a few times already, yes they are, the worldline number given in the very first episode matches up with the one from Steins;Gate.
