Currently, n the old RTW, using Germania, I'm currently engaging Macedonia in control of the upper Danube region while keeping Britannia under check along the Rhine for 10 years already... Its quite bloody facing an army 2x to 8x bigger my armies' size.. I end it here.. |

So I was facing Gaul Rebels, the Germanians and the two other Roman powers all at once and I held my own for 20 years until, one by one, they all came to me looking for a ceasefire. It gives you this feeling: |

Bragging time eh?
I used to play RTW so much that i dominated the whole map several times, and ended up playing without saving and loading and still won all major battles. My most significant battle was when my 2.5k army defeated their 8k army (I think in that Barbarian Expansion) in open battle. Got like 900 men left by the end of it and 1/3 of my generals died. But after that my army cut through their regions unopposedly, like hot knife through butter But to be fair, i couldn't play the hardest mode through. They reduced the army morale down so much that even the elite unit can't hold up for tactical charge. Stopped playing a long while, and no longer can do it now through as the control getting kinda annoyed when you start to get used to Shogun 2

http://wiki.totalwar.com/w/Total_War..._Iceni_Faction Okay guys, we got two new Celtic factions and boy are they a step up from the generic screaming shirtless maniacs from the first game (although Iceni still has this for now). A step towards historical accuracy however tenuous is well appreciated. |

I only got into the total war franchise starting at Empire total war, followed by Napoleon. I gave Shogun a pass (three games in a row would've been overkill for me ), so I guess I'll probably pick up Rome II. The beach landings look cool at least.
I hope they add in a more "sculpted" feel for a lot of the cities though. At least in Empire I only remember Quebec City feeling like it mirrored the actual ~1800's city. Everything else was just big walls around an army camp (for fortified cities), or a random collection of houses for unfortified ones. Eventually I got bored of just repeating the same strategy again and again, so I just auto-resolved most of the city battles in the grand-campaign Last edited by Fahd; 2013-02-15 at 14:21. |

Is it really any different than including black pajama clad ninja's in Shogun 2? Those are about as real as Teutonic Berserkers.

I don't understand you people. How could you possibly stick so long to the vanilla RTW to play those silly uber Romans and tolerate the thrice-damned Senate when there were mods like RTR, SPQR, and eventually the crown jewel EB out there?
You don't play RTW until you play EB. Nuh uh. Future DLC. |
