Episode 1 compared to 4 is like the constrast between narutaru episode 1 and narutaru episode 8. Just get ready to watch someone's limbs being ripped off in fluid animation.

Ufff! Half of episode four was a gunshot!


Fight between Lucy and Nana was a bit breathtaking.

Lucy gets to talk a lot in this episode, in contrast to the previous ones, and she shows off her twistedness and bitchiness to the nth power with no remorse and inhibitions at all.

Spoiler:

In this episode, it was clearly demonstrated, although through implication, that Lucy hates and despises humans of any kind. She gave Nana a chance to spare her, but she felt annoyed by here.

In fact, Nana did put a good fight.

She's got more advanced vector abilities (well, at least in further range), but at the end, it is power plus strategy that decides the positive outcome of a battle. Lucy took advantage of everything, specially about Mayu's intromission.

It is showcased then that not all Dicloni are heartless or inhuman.

Mayu overheards noises in the graveyard. She gets there and interferes during the middle of the fight. Nana warns her off not coming closer and let's loose her grasp from Lucy. And.....
Well, for those of you who happened to watch the episode you know what came next.

But that moment also raised another doubt on me.

Spoiler:

Remember episode 1, when the secretary girl ended up in the middle of the confrontation between Lucy and the soldiers. Lucy did not gave any thoughts about wasting her and using the body as shield; that girl interfered.

A similar situation happened too in episode 4, but the circumstance was different though. Mayu became awared what was happening in the graveyard but had no idea who or what was responsible.

She got there and saw the two girls fighting out. She plead them to stop, but Lucy took advantage of her intromission.

Here it happened:
Mayu entered in shock witnessing how Nana got her limbs dismembered. Lucy gave her a disdainful look and casted her out of the way, landing in a nearby tree.

Doubt:
If Lucy did not gave thoughts about killing the secretary girl of episode 1 because of her interference, then, for this episode 4, why did she became concerned of Mayu's further interference, after she knocked out Nana, and not killed her right away?

What came next was the torture session.

I think by just observing Lucy's expression on her face, that she really enjoyed tearing apart Nanas' limbs, although she never gave away a malevolent grin every time the camera made a close-up shot of her face. Man! It would have been cool if she had done so to further enhance her badass attitude and twisted nature.

This is the dialogue between Lucy and Nana during that scene, although I'm not very accurate about.
Lucy: It's hard. It's painful, isn't it? Relax. Soon everything will be over.

Just before the coup d' grace....

The military already set her up a trap. The man with glasses came close to the area. Before Lucy had time to react, Nana's ghostly arm poked her inside the eye likely her frontal nerve lobe and thus disabling temporarily Lucy's vector ability.

I really loved the way how Lucy reacted and shouting, "Kizama", at Nana.

But the best was what the megane man delivered her.

He shouted out "DIE" and slapped Lucy what all the might he's gotten, knocking her harshly to the ground. That slapping was way too cool, IMO!

She then gave him another, even more contemptible and disdainful look of hatred.

Furthermore, toward the end of this episode another three new characters are introduced: the boss of the glasses man, the glasses man if I recall correctly is Kurama; the son of his boss, sickly obssessed with Lucy; and his assistant.

Above all, this was the best Lucy episode I've seen as so far the series has come. Beginning from this episode, the web of conspiracy starts to weave. Do you think that this anime is heading toward an apocalyptic direction in both its theme and mood?

Interesting show, is it me or do those "horns" looks suprising like "neko ears".

I thought that's what they were at the beginning until they showed the x-ray and all.

A quick question, is the OST out yet? If not does anyone happen to have the intro? It's a pretty eery and I like it alot.

Can't wait to pick this one up on DVD, it's a nice departure from all the happy giddy shows that's currently the mainstream. Although I don't think I'll be able to show it to any anime newbies as it's not really fitting as a gateway series.

Hypothetically implying that a Diclonus somehow manages to live.

They didn't see her as human at all. First time we saw her, she was chained to a wall, naked and bloody. They were treating her like an animal. I think the way the boss see her, she's just another expendable experiment, It'll cost money and time to give her artificial limbs and go trough rehab, so he decided to just put her down.

Sometimes I think the premise of this show is how bad our society has gone. And what Lucy doing is right or wrong? Because watching this show from time to time a tought will come out, maybe this person deserve to die.

Just like in Konomini, does humanity deserve a 2nd chance?

This show really brings out human's ugly nature: deceit, betrayal, abuse, etc.

I am particularly impressed at Lucy's stoic impression when she was tearing the limbs off Nana. This is the expression of a demented invidividual. Only the pure psychos show no emotion doing this stuff. (Applause) In fact, that should be done more often!

I thought the manga was actually more explicit in displaying Mayu's "acts", but hey, they can only show that much on regular TV .

You see, if you believe life is just a series of tragedies, this show just brings it out at its finest. (More applause) I am curious as to how much darker it can get. Can't wait for more!

The premise of this show is nudity+gruesome violence+catgirl to appeal to a wider audience, which sucks, but I suppose anime production companies cant take chances, anime cost money after all.

So far Im not impressed, I consider useless violence fanservice, and in this case its just there to appeal sicks and kids who goes "thats so cool" to pass as bad guys same with the nudity, which I dont mind as much as the ugly,disgusting, hideous "horns" a.k.a. catgirl ears >_<!!! that freaks me out, its so sick and disgusting and is far far away from being cute and...aarggh, I just hate it ^^

k now that I let that out of my system I have to say that the premise of the show is good, not terribly original though (not just konomimi, the "society is cruel" is a theme thats way overused, specially in anime) I love the opening and the ending and it can be a great series but I have my reservations, for me it seems it will end up as the usual fanservice anime... I hope not.

Im still waiting for ep 3 and of course the now-more-than-infamous ep 4! ^_^ if it doesnt get any better Ill drop it.

How did Mayu gets her dog back after that bitch took it back? i dont understand how it suddenly apeared back at kouta's home with a leash...did it ran away from his/her real owner??? i really feel bad for mayu for her past, but good thing that she gets a new start. And the treatment to Nana...i think Nana is coming back since the secretary asked the director if he regret the situation or not...i think what she means if the director regret that he didnt obey his boss' orders to kill her. Besides, in the official website, there is a wallpaper on nana with new legs and arms! also, its funny at the end where the prof is talking and all of a sudden his head got busted, and MAN DOES HE DESERVE IT!
