Well because Okawara is the main established Gundam main mecha designer, did original MSG and does SEED........or rather he gets final say on almost everything and most things end up creditted towards him.

Hajime Katoki is one of my fave mecha designers and the second main Gundam designer, some of the Gundam series he has been officially creditted for and did.

-Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz (Hence why they look so different and more badass)
-Gundam Sentinel (Manga only and his first real claim to fame I think.)
-V Gundam (Yes the quite unstoppable V2 Assualt Buster plus Wings of Light was a Katoki creation)
-Crossbone Gundam (Yes the man is a genius. Pirates + Gundams = Ownage)
-Stardust Memory (Dendrobium, Physalis and the whole GP line were his)

As far as Katoki's work goes ...

- Yes, he did the EW designs.
- Sentinel yes, although to be specific and pedantic, it's a photonovel, not a manga.
- Stardust Memory, I think he only did the GP03 as far as Gundams are concerned, Shoji Kawamori did the GP01 and GP02.

I'd like to see a Gundam series with Katoki as the principal designer. That would rock so much.

Other works that people may not know is that Katoki also designed Master and Devil, as well as GW grunts and the 'Geese.

Double X

Freedom and Double X share practically the same torso, the only difference is how a few lines are drawn and the colour composition. The front armour skirt is eerily similar, and if you click on "Twin satellite cannons activated" I'm sure you'll see some more resemblances.

I still remember when someone posted pictures of a heavily modified old 1/100 Double X kit and someone said "Woah, nice custom Freedom" 8).

Also, Freedom and Double X both happen to be very good and appealing designs, while Zero is sorely lacking - but compared to its predecessor it's a gigantic leap forward. Oh, the Wing Gundam is just so incredibly hideous!

I definitely find more similarity in gundam wing zero...heck, just give Freedom a TBR and other than color schemes, it's the same desig until wings spread...

As for SF, they shoulda kept freedom's head. SF's head is ugh.

Freedom is so far from Wing ZERO:

1. Different V fin, especially the centrepiece
2. Different 'ears'
3. Different chest
4. Different shoulders and arms
5. Different wings
6. Different skirt armour
7. Different feet

I'm sorry, while WZ and Freedom are WMDs, they dont look the same... not. even. close. The only similarites I see are: Okawara design, and um... um... yeah, that's it.
