Personally I'd rather have a non-closure ending than a crappy anime original ending (like Claymore for example) at least this gives me the foolish hope that there's going to be another season. edit: I should stop commenting before I've seen an episode, the final episode is in fact an anime original. At least it's one that doesn't contradict the manga (unless one of the three stooges will get appendicitis later in the manga series

)

Anyway an excellent anime and adaptation admittedly I caved in after three weeks and read the manga because I really wanted to know if Natsume and Sasayan would get together.

Also Tanezaki Atsumi should get new comer seiyuu of the year award. assuming there is one.

Talk about 0 closure. I'm familar with these type of endings, but I think they could have found a better spot to leave off on a "life goes on..." ending.

It's a tragedy that all 3 shojo anime got one cour...

This was a very entertaining anime (although I haven't being in the thread a lot), Natsume who still I don't know who I can ship her with

guess I'll ship her with both guys and her seiyuu definitely take the award for being the best of the show and well... who knows if we'll get another season.

I guess its ok because they left it open to come back to. Figures Haru would not be looking for Nagoya.

The official site announced a DVD special to be bundled with volume 12 next summer. So something to look forward to.

Too bad they went for an anime original episode instead of adapting chapter 17. Well, I get why they did it. Chapter 17 it's yet another Natsume chapter and it wouldn't fit for the final episode. I still wanted to see it animated though...

I look at this ending in something of the same light as I do the one from Hyouka – while it lacked the sheer poetic magnificence of that episode, they share a very sympathetic viewpoint. When you’re 16, life is anything but certain – it’s a seemingly endless string of possibilities that defies categorization and understanding. Everyone copes in their own way. Sasayan smiles and observes, Natsume decides that when trying hard isn’t enough she should try twice as hard. Haru demands an impossible certainty and indulges his ephemeral emotions, and Mitty tries to fit everything into a category she can understand and file it away for later. Each of them is simply being themselves, and they’ve each been remarkably true to themselves for the entire series.

This series was ok but also kinda dissapointing.

No closure and I wish the romance was done a bit better.

Series started off good, but to me got boring as time went on since I got used to the nature of their relationship i.e. accepting the fact that they're just going to be in that "not sure" zone.

This was my favorite show of the season. The ending makes me wonder about a 2nd season. It wasn't as good of an ending as Say I love you's recent ending of episode 12, but I still loved it.

well at least there finally seems to be happening between natsume & sasayan (if only bcuz of the BGM >.<) & they are together in this episode right? plus that picture of Yuu-chan, she is perceptive right?

well we could always hope for a 2nd season, though it doesn't seem to be likely.

Kind of meh for a last episode..... no hint for a 2nd season.. nothing.. it was blank , they could have saved the OP&ED times... guess i'll read the manga.

Terrible last episode IMO. Totally uneventful, it's as if the spirit of the show were eviscerated and only the empty shell was left. It's perfectly possible to end a show in a satisfactory way even with an ongoing manga, Aoi Hana comes to mind. Too bad they didn't even try.

It's a shame too, since this is one of the best executed shoujo series in recent memory, and could have been one of the best shows of 2012. I guess that crown will have to go to Kids on the Slope instead, which also completely botched its last ep but was stronger overall.

When my friend told me that it was the last episode of Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, I was genuinely shocked. It honestly feels more like the halfway point of a 2 cour anime at this point, which is a shame since it blew the other romance shoujo anime of this cour out of the water.

One says I love you, the other says no. Then the other says I love you, the other says no. And it just cycles endlessly to the end. But I did like the anime, I guess mainly because of the characters. The characters were good. Though I did not like Haru. A madman and I wouldn't be surprised if he committed domestic violence in the future. So I guess 8/10, because I did generally enjoy the series, despite some problems. PS:Yuu-chan's "otaku" laugh was done really well, really natural.
