Saki -side a- ch.3

Yeah! 86 pages.

I have to say that the story goes way too fast in this chapter. It focuses on characters more than mahjong too. There are matches but they ended in like 1-2 pages - -''

Talk about character, I have big LOL in this chapter where...

Spoiler for "When Achiga team meets.....:

More like the entire prefecture tournament ended in 2 pages..
Way too too fast, especially when they introduced the Bansei's 5 players only to like throw them away after 2 pages.. LOL..

And OMG, Saki looked so bad ass when she walked past them!!!
One more famous school is revealed in this chapter to add to Eisui, Rinkai girls and Shiraitodai.

I thought the Achika side story will be focusing on Nodoka's middle school days but looks like I was wrong.

Although there's still no mahjong in Ch 3, at the very least, they are already up to speed with Saki's end. It really is "The other story". (Go, go, Koromo! At least you will still be appearing in the new anime series.)

The setting of the characters in the other story has still much to be explored, but this gives the author more room to move around. Hope the upcoming mahjong will be good.

I actually had thought the same thing ... I am cautiously optimistic at this point.

BTW - hafta agree ... must be kinda rough to run face first in Koromo and be exposed to Saki like that.

Oh yes - thanks to Marina2 for posting the img links!

I think this time it'll be the first round of the nationals that will be more detailed..

Maybe the anime will explore their prefecture tournament more but right now I can't wait for the new chapter..

Maybe we should take a lot at the bracket again as I think they are most likely getting the Kansai school in the first or second round in the nationals..

LOL I never thought I would say this but Saki is actually epic bad ass in that image.
While she plays epic bad ass mahjong, however she herself never really carried the aura of "bad ass" but that one image changes it all

She has never looked so delicious

Awesome!

BTW I think it's a nice thing the side story might focus more on the characters more, if the author doesn't know a great deal about mahjong then I think it would be better that way.
The main story gives us the epic battles and I guess the side story can also do that(maybe not to such a extent)but give us something a little different.

Wow that went by way too fast. I kinda wish some of the matches were shown. It seems the spinoff is more focused on characters which i don't mind too much since i like every character Ritz has created in the Saki universe. And i'm glad we at least get to see some of the Saki characters have an appearance.

Meanwhile in Saki's mind:

"uhh... I got lost again... I wonder where's the exit. Maybe I should ask those people... wait... they look like they want to go to the restroom or something, I guess I shouldn't bother them."

LOL, I thought of this too, but the expression of her being lost and the expression of her in that image was totally different though..

Maybe that's how other sees her when she get lost.

It is only me that think that Achiga-hen might merge with Saki somehow?
If Achiga will to get hit with Kiyosumi, it'll definitely be merging their stories together before splitting after the match is over, somewhat like a 2 point view of the story.
But then there is a possibility that they might never get match up together. However, with Shizuno seeing Saki as a rival, it's not right to not try to match them up together at some point, right?

Lots of considering for this.. Btw, anyone's surprised Arata's the president of the mahjong club?

I just hope they are leaving a lot of intentional holes for the anime to fill in, because otherwise the pacing so far majorly sucks.

Hmm ... just read Achiga-hen ch 3 online....

I wonder if Kiyosimi's first two opponents at the Nationals include Achiga? Possibly the first (or second?) round?

In the round before Kiyosimi began playing Eisui and others (i.e. the current arc being serialized in the Saki manga) the match ended after Hisa defeated one of the other teams - i.e. Nodoka and Saki did not even show up. I wonder if Achiga was part of that round?

If they are, my guess is that the drubbing they receive from Kiyosimi will serve as their inspiration to get better. That may be the reason why the story seems to be moving so quickly - they are trying to get to the post-thrashed improvement/recovery stage, which may be the main storyline at the beginning?

Of course there is always the Individual tourney at the Nationals as well....

Anyway ... I am liking it thus far.

They are in a completely different group. Go back to the coach talk some chapters back in the Saki manga proper.

Hmm, speaking if they'll meet up in the finals will be hard..

Achiga will be meeting Senriyama after they clear their first round and then have Shiratodai in the finals if they managed to qualify for the semi-finals..

If Senriyama goes through too, then it'll be Shiratodai/Senriyama/Achiga/no idea who..
That national top 2 schools must be tough.. They might even lose and have no choice but to cheer for Nodoka for the finals..

Quote from someone in M.F.

Quote:
reminder to those who forgot: 2 teams go to semifinals from quarterfinals, and 2 teams to finals from semifinals, even if Achiga lose to Shiraitodai but are 2nd, they still go to finals

So, it'll be Kiyosumi/Achiga/Shiraitodai/??? epic battle in final.

That's provided that Achiga got past both Shiratodai and Senriyama..
It's not impossible but they're the national top 2.. So it's gonna be a hard ride for Achiga.

They can't even beat Ryuumonbuchi or the runner-up ace that lost to Senriyama..
So I think Achiga might not get past Senriyama or Shiraitodai..

The ??? is probably Rinkai I think.. There's still Eisui and maybe Himematsu that stands a chance..
