Well, if I were to write a guide I would probably end up repeating what others have said before me.

With that said, if you check the second page of this thread, you'll be able to see two guides already posted here. Give those a try, if you have problems or doubts about them, I'll be more than happy to help you. (or at least try to. )

Oh and I work using the paths method; If you decide to use the shape layers method I wont be able to help you much.

Try to start with paths to get the hang of the basics first.

No, only good old Photoshop CS.

The other day, Fluke was commenting about how he does his works, and mentioned some brushes that are available for Illustrator; I already got the brushes, and now I want to get my hands on the program to try out that method myself.

Daniel E., i have some question to ask (sorry to bother you again ^^") about "Unmei's tracing tutorial.
im fully understand the method one. But when comes to method two, im lost ^^"

Here's what i dont understand :

Now, place dots along the outlines like you would do with the paths option, except that you need to encircle the outline now, instead of just follow it. (zoom in to 200 or 300%, it’ll make things easier) When you placed the last dot, click on the first one again, so it closes. Everything inside of the lines will be colored in the color of the layer, more on this in the coloring section.
And don’t forget to place the new layer under the original image.

Could you show me ?

If you are gonna try the shape layers method, be sure and check Solwyvern's thread in this very same section. He's the best around here with that method.

Anyway, I can't believe it's been more than two weeks since I posted something new here. Sorry about that.



The character designs in Lucky Star are kinda simple and that shows in the trace; Plus, I ended up using a screencap wich is hardly the best source you can get for this sort of thing.

Nevertheless, I like the simple and fresh feel I got from this piece, and it's a welcome change from the weeks-long-to-make stuff I usually do.

Yeah the new signature is a welcome change vibrant colors always go with the season in question spring . I too wanted to make a signature of a colored pic but blame laziness : D

This one looks neat would make an awesome picture for Halloween due to a dark background . Nice work dude kudos ^^

There's "only" two more Lucky traces to post, and then it's off to work on something else.
