Anime Episodes 291 and 292 are TV specials and not a continuation of Enies Lobby arc

]291. Boss Luffy Again! Dream or Reality Lottery Riot - On Christmas EVE

292. The Great Race at the Rice Cake Firewood Castle! Red Nose's Conspiracy
Oshiro de Mochimachi Daireesu! Akai Hana no Inbou - On the 7th of January

I don't know if to call it a pity since after the coming weeks episode,
290. Uncontrollable! Chopper's Forbidden Rumble on the 17th of December,

it seems we have to wait after the week of the 7th January for the continuation of the Enies Lobby Arc

Well, it's completely understandable actually. Since the next two episodes are going to be during the heart of the holidays, they figure that it's better to put filler episodes in there than to bother with possibly low ratings on mainline episodes. Plus if someone misses a couple episodes because of the holidays, they're less likely to gripe about missing filler episodes than they are about regular ones. Especially since we're about to see Chopper go nuts here soon.

I was hoping for more Edo period-OP specials. IMO, the special from last year was the best of the OP TV specials/movies/fillers. Though I find it odd that they're listed in the episode numbers rather than being a stand-alone special....

And I SO hope that Kumadori is one of the villains in the special. He'd fit in PERFECTLY.

Doesn't this kind of special episode happen every year around the same time?

Sweet. I always like their special one-episode fillers.

Especially the Edo period stuff, which is pretty cool in my book.

You won't actually have to wait all that long.

TV specials beat the living daylights out of flashback episodes. Lets just be thankful for that.

Screenshot for episode 291:

I love OP special. They always have beautiful drawing with lots of details in the background which the TV series usually lacks. We can also see some good-to-excellent range of animation that teases the imagination what One Piece could have been if Toei was willing to spend money on animation for the TV series. Since this special is a continuation from the last year's settings of the TV special, I was excited than usual that Nami-chwaan will be wearing a Yukata (traditional Japanese clothing) which in turn, gives rise to my frivolous thoughts.

and the equally ravishing Robin in Yukata....

Compared to last year's special which I think is the best of all the OP special, this one wasn't as polished in character design and was lacking in background detail. Still, there were few screenshot-worthy frames:

This special also features two new characters in addition to the characters that were comprised of in the last year's special. Notably, one of them is that ero-camel from Alabasta that doesn't let any bottoms touch its back unless those bottoms belong to sexy female.

I enjoyed this one, so I'm very much looking forward to the next one as well.

Saw episode 292. The screenshot as follows:

This episode special features more funnies. A brief synopsis on the episode:

Spoiler for special episode 292:

Once again, the shining point of this episode lies in the detail of the background. It was a tiny bit better in the animation category than last episode 291. Other than that, last year's special still remains the best special One Piece has featured as of yet.

After ep 291 id have to say that it's the first time (well maybe second if you put out the man and his sheep filler) that i actually wanted to finish quicker.
I just hope ep 292 is the end (if it will be more im going to think of skiping that episode) and choper madness will begin *_*

I don't mind the edo op fillers that much, It's just that they come at the worst time to interupt the flow of the main storyline. I basically just like it to see the all the cameos in that time period for op.
