Poor Maki. One of the hardest emotional events to go through in life is to discover that someone you greatly admire is actually a fraud. This is especially true if you are personally very close to that admired person, as Maki is to Riko. Making it even worse is how Maki is finding this out - Through Yan being an ass, and through Maki overhearing one of Riko's conversations.

I never laughed much during Episode 12, but this is definitely the best the drama side of this show has been, imo. I'm honestly a bit surprised they're bringing Rico's secret to the fore already. It's a great and bold way for Season 1 to end, imo. I just hope that Maki is able to overcome it, and forgive Rico.

Can I ask this: Is Love Lab a popular property in Japan? I just can't quite grasp such a seemingly obscure show having such a ridiculous animation budget. It has been pretty superb animation quality for this season, right up there with AoT and Railgun S.

I'd say in the middle.
And don't ask me how budget is decided. There is a difference in studio and all of that. And I guess the dedication and skill of the animators?
And AoT only has powerful bursts of animation while Railgun is more stable than strong. At the least, AoT's budget is anything than superb.

The problem with AoT isn't so much budget as it is time,no matter what the budget if you only give the studio less than a month to make something then odds are the results aren't going to be great.

Maybe it's just me but I've been seeing more sakuga in non action shows in general this year, apart from Love Lab there's Yuyushiki and Muromi san that come to mind.

Spoiler for Episode 13 (End):

This wasn't a bad episode, although it does follow the usual trope of a boy finding a girl after her dissapearance before they reunite together. In this case, it was played by Riko and Maki. I liked the execution the climax was going on, and the ending gives a feel of having more seasons if they want to.
I like this anime, it's not a masterpiece but it works well enough to be a little diamond shining in summer season. One of the best parts about it was the character designs and the fact that the movements are really fluid. Story isn't very special but really feels like something enjoyable thanks to the themed antics played by the main characters. It pulls off some ideas that the girls can have their own partners pretty well, overall this was quite a pleasure to watch.

Sold around 3700 combined between BDs and DVDs on its first day. Not awful, but not really that good either.

I wouldn't expect high sales from a series that originated as a low profile 4koma gag manga. Then again, there is K-On, but I would count that as the exception.

Hopefully there will be a spike in manga sales at least.

Surprised at how much I liked this series and the animation quality. I think I'll be keeping an eye on Dogakobo's upcoming projects.

Spoiler for final thoughts:

One thing I found pretty cool about this series is the foreshadowing the manga-ka does. For instance, Riko calling Maki by Maki, thus causing Yan to misunderstand Maki's name. Of course, there is also the last episode's handkerchief, which comes all the way from episode 1.

I wondered how Sayo was going to do her voice imitation, but it seems the anime just let Maki's voice actor take over.

Anyways, it was a fairly good adaption. One thing I felt though was the tendency of the anime to take the story too seriously. Although the manga has the same story and drama, it always maintains a comedic atmosphere. On the other hand, the anime really turns heavy during those moments.
Though I guess that is a way to adapt the story too, so well...

Also a good thing is the budget. I rarely see anime move so much in a cour. Heck, I don't think I've seen a KyoAni anime move so much in one episode, comparing to episode 12, which really REALLY moved.
Even doing the Bon Festival week when this anime only had one main animator, it lacked in the first third, but regained the quality in the last two thirds.

In that way, the adaption was great. I guess the original parts didn't really blend in that well, but well, the anime still did a good job connecting or rearranging stuff.

So yeah, overall, I'm satisfied. 10/10
Manga is even better though! Go read it! The artwork also gets lot better!

really whole series too good to watch sure bunch on laugh, some drama, & huggy indeed overall really too much ha to see.

A bit too much drama for my taste in the last episode, but there were still amusing moments. Glad things are back to normal at the end.

This was a very sweet series overall. 8/10. I was particularly impressed with the animation. It's not often a slice of life/comedy anime moves so much.

I'd say if the sales warrant it, there are enough open ends here to proceed. The two couples, the 'secret', the newspaper group's wish for status, plus Saya's boyfriend....lot of stuff there.

In the first place, there is enough manga material. The anime used up 3-4 volumes of the manga and there are 8-9 volumes out.
