How..? That's just..what? Ukraine is literally next door and so much of it's populace is screaming to become part of Russia(as far as I understand anyway). Even without that, until not long ago there were riots.

Not sure if serious.

Pretty sure the whole thing was due to people screaming for that not to happen.

Oh yeah..? Well. I guess I have to go back a bit with these articles. I haven't really been paying much attention to Ukraine until the riots, I'll admit.

No news on what? The Crimean gathering? I found an article on that in RT.

Quote:
Officials also intend to protect arms depots, preventing radical opposition activists from looting and staging the takeover of such venues. Citizens are encouraged to form local militias to protect public order. Local authorities are to fund and support those militias.
Oh the irony.

[EDIT]

Wait, no news on the Ukraine protests in general? That's surprising.

Basically the protests happened after Yanukovych did a 180 from going with a EU trade deal, and went with Russia instead.

The divide in the country has always been there, but Ukraine as a whole was moving towards the EU side of things, with the seeking of EU membership and all.

Who came up with that plan..?

Either way, I can find a few articles, probably.

EDIT: Alright, I can't find any articles on the riots unless I go back a bit. It's mostly just politics at this point. You ok with that?

I'm browsing Russian forums and suddenly the following news started appearing. Cannot confirm with sources yet, but interesting:

Allegedly Russia's 76th Guards Air Assault Division has been put on alert and ready to be dispatched to Kiev. So far seen several people confirming this who have friends serving there.

Also the following footage of army colons were taken today in Russia's Novorossiysk region:

Out of curiosity, is it the old Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth parts of Ukraine that want to go with Europe while the part that wants to go to Russia is the old part held by the Ottoman Empire in those days (1600s)?

Or would the part that wants to go to Europe be the old Cossacks?

Wow if they do it that's crazy, the population in Kiev won't like the intrusion of such a sticky neighboor.

I found this, and I think the country known as Ukraine won't continue longer.

The country really is divided into, aside the economical difference, the language, which is considered as the first and foremost factor needed to do a nation and create of feeling of unity isn't even here.

I had a history professor that had gone to school at UCLA during the last major drought. He was watching the news, which was all about water rationing in California, then looked outside to see people still watering their lawns, washing cars, kids playing in blow up pools, and all sorts of things in Los Angeles. Like there wasn't even a drought at all. Save that in the Bay Area, we were modifying our toilets to use less water. Not flushing as often. Using bath water for watering plants. Cold water that came out before the hot water got to the faucets or showers were collected and later used to at least partly fill the clothes washing machine each week. The lawn died, and the cars were dusty.

The new water friendly toilets that came out around then were awful. The designs just could not flush as well as an older 5 gallon tank with just 3.5 gallons. Typically requiring a second flushing after unplugging the thing, wasting more water. The older five gallon tanks filled with space restruction bottles seemed to work better as the volume of water coming out was enough to go the job even though is used less water. They've fixed the design flaw in newer 1.6 gallon and less tank designs, but the early ones are terrible.
I go to UCLA also, and they just started promoting water conservation efforts yet again. But yes, technology does improve, and the new toilet bowls definitely can do more with less. I really would like to see those waterless urinals to be used universally on the other hand.

Though that is the conundrum isn't it? I still really do feel as if people do not see the true price of their choices. It's that there would be a big backlash once a mandatory system of water rationing occurs.

Still, the combination of the new Interm Government in Ukraine, and Russian partial mobilization does seem to harken back to the 2008 Georgian intervention yet again.

Yeeeppp, the west part goes with EU, and far east goes with Russia (like Crimea). Problem solved.

What irony....Crimea is practically a part of Russia that got jammed into the Ukraine's administrative borders for some reason

That is the failure of a government that didn't create a national pride through economic or culture aspect. Even somewhere like Taiwan has it. Just ask Vallen.

I am sure if Ukraine was threatened by Russia on a regular basis they would be far less pro-Russia overall. At the very least Russia pretends to care about the Russian-speaking people on the Eastern Ukraine side.

All these to shift attention from the troubles back home.

Speaking of which, I am rather interested to know exactly which are the ones that are itching the CCP that make them do this.
