it's about Izayoi's "crushing defeat" which is said in the epilogue.
I can guess that the plan doesn't go as planned/Azi Dakaha is stronger than expected, but which part?

Its not a literal defeat. Izayoi didnt beat Azi it was more that he finished the job. He was angry because Azi was better and he knew it. He lucked out

oh.. so he's just angry on himself because he can't win in a direct confrontation with Azi?
since they say about "Kouryuu saw everything with his own eyes", I thought it refers to something that happened after Izayoi catched the spear

Holy hell. A Gift that might be above even Genome Tree is already amazing, but possessing the possibility to defeat Azi is something else entirely. Even if her chances of winning isn't high, it can only mean she too have the required conditions that Mikado spoke about that's needed to be able to defeat Azi for good.

It was boring generally (just endless explanations), but on positive sides I have: Spoiler for Last Embryo vol3: - You's back (she looks great) - Hanuman is Last Embryo (only because it surprised me, I don't know much about Hindu myths, but wasn't he a heroic figure?) - Parashurama is potentially good villain - next volume has a lot of hype Otherwise, plot isn't going in my fav direction (perpetuum mobile being connected to everything), but we will see.
