Another has a really suspenseful and well-developed beginning. Things kind of fall near the end, though. I'd recommend it anyway.

The Higurashi series seems to fit into the horror category.

I don't know if you've seen this, but I'm sure Denpa Teki na Kanojo will have what you're looking for.

There's also Chaos;Head. It's a weird one, but it does make up for good psychological twists and turns to implement the "horror" aspect of the premise. That's just me though.

Huh... you've already seen Shiki and Mirai Nikki.

Another is the only other horror I can think of.

I guess a couple that have some horror elements are Madoka Magica and Occult Academy, although I don't think either are primarily horror.

Tokyo majin and Shikabane hime both are action/horrors. I don't like later, but both fit definition.

Serial experiment Lain I would dare call it cyber horror. Very recommanded.

Level E: Probably as much horror as above mentioned Occult academy, but it did scare me quite often.

I recommend "Bakeneko," the third story in the anthology Ayakashi Samurai Horror Tales that Eragon suggested. If you like that, there is a twelve-episode sequel called Mononoke. If you're looking for the kind of horror where dead bodies fall out of cupboards making the audience jump in fright, these won't satisfy you. They are psychological thrillers about evil and revenge.

I'll suggest two other shows that might have some appeal even though I wouldn't call them "horror" even by the weaker definition that Mononoke fits. Maybe "spooky" is a better word. Those would be Ghost Hound and Shin Sekai Yori.

Edit: I forgot to include Mouryou no Hako, another "spooky" entrant. That version is in 240p; the torrents are much better, but they reside on a server I cannot link to here.

Seconded in regards to Higurashi. To add more, I'd say it isn't a pure horror series. Rather, I'd consider it a hybrid psychological horror/mystery work.

Word of advice: Pay attention to everything as it is really easy to get lost/confused if you're not alert. Also, ANYTHING could be a clue. For the most part, all the mysteries can be solved with the clues given. Some arcs give clues to solve the mysteries of an earlier arc.

It's not a full blown series, but I think there was an animation of Corpse Party around.

Thank you for the Suggestion, i finaly got the time to watch the First two mentioned series.

Liked the First season of Tokyo Majin but the ending of the second season was kinda weak but still a good Anime.

In my opinion Shikabane Hime was the better one of those two.
