Vantier (Vanguard + Frontier).

To put things really simply: Advanced Drone that also a walking factory. Vantier can be used as Toolkits to make new things.

The original plan for Vantier is an Unmanned Space Probe unit sent for exploration (before a manned exploration).

They are made to be very adaptive to handle any form of emergency such as Meteor, alien invasion...etc (*cough*crazily prepared*cough*.)

Also to create a space network, allowing future Space Explorers to communicate with Earth without any electromagnetic noise or interference.

But things go south once IS is introduced to the world, the Space Program was scrapped and since they still have the prototypes, they decided to try military Drone route (The origin of RIM Drones units) but things did not work out that well..... (Read: Somebody stole their design for Mass production Vantier)

The company go down and the Drones are left in the hand of its Inventor who happened to be a real mad scientist who also happened to be a conspiracy nut-job.

The Inventor eventually found about about the Rouge AI ship and give the drones away to let others do the fighting for him while he dodge the "evil"(read: Non-existent) Organization.

Nah, he is just a Nut-job who operate on troll logic. His credibility in the Science community is the same as some random Hobo on the street with no education.

To be fair, his invention is Aperture Science worthy..... That speak volumes.

And he is technically right.... Vantier's anti-gravity work by letting Gravity repel Vantier.

Original application for this technology is to
1. Vertical Lift off because it is "future" technology.
2. Lifting Heavy weight (according to his logic: Every thing fall regardless of their weight...)
3. Letting gravity of black hole as spring-board to launch the unit into near Light-speed.

Vantier actually has a second Anti-gravity technology...to lock it in place(while aerial).... Which the operators used for levitating above ground.

Edit: Also the Inventor is old, not a young genius (overrated).... Age come with experiences and time to read about stuff....

And Agetreme, if you want a duo setting, maybe it would be more than one pair. Uses different aspects: Friends, Lovers, Living Emotional Crutches, Ex-Enemies, Siblings, Comrades, Using Each Other, Forced, Yandere!

The last one reserved for the playboy. I always like the idea of over-protective to absolute-dominance.

You know, the whole Anti-gravity thing, I could see these posibility:

- An invisible field made by particle. Dark matter by particular.

- Electromagnetic and Superconductor.

- Anti-matter. To put it in theory, their weight are negative. Unfortunately, acording to the Relative theorem, that is impossible.

I'm leaning to the third idea for IS, though. It's a double arrow, explain both the infinite power and this. But what with Vandam?

So I always use humanoid blimp as handwave, I.S. + pilot are never weightless, just really light.

It is just an excuse explaining how things fly and float. Make as much sense (or less) as portal gun.
