I think it's more fair to say no one is really winning the war on drugs, but more little victories will help.
I have a strange view that effectively everything related to smoking (be it tobacco or drugs or whatever) should be legalised but if you do happen to do so, your healthcare should be paid 100% by you and you alone when it all goes wrong and stuffs up your health. Ruin your bodies all you like, just don't do it at my expense through taxes.

To be a whistleblower in any country is pretty much courting a short life. The Russians just tend to be a bit more punctual with it.
As for the Japanese gaming industry, again my mind is divided. On the positive side, they know how to make a good epic game every now and again. Plus when it isn't as mainstream, it certainly generates a bit of appeal for being different. Negatively, it's hard to say who will survive the world of games coding and publishing. Many studios have come and gone, sometimes even on one make or break game that turned out to be a flop. No one is safe in general in my opinion. It's a tragedy that Microprose (it made some of my favourite games back in the 90s) is gone, yet Codemasters (in my opinion, the generator of many crap racing games) is still in existence. The planet has no justice I swear.

My first contribution to the thread: http://uk.reuters.com/article/idUKTRE6A60S320101107
Jobless Britons could be made to do manual work Basically it's a similar setup to what Australia has (except Australia's fortnightly benefits are worth $462 for the unemployed). I'm not keen on providing 40 hours a week to "earn" $231 per week, luckily I've had a temporary job that's worth three times as much for a few weeks to cover obligations and at least gain some much needed money. But at 64 pounds sterling per week in the UK, will people be willing to do that? My thoughts would be no on that, it's bad enough at double the rate. I imagine The Sun and Daily Record readers will not be chuffed at this development.
