2 million for less than 100 theaters is pretty damn good.

A miyazaki movie in comparison plays in about 300 or so theaters as Xcomp noted.

The movie industry in Japan is VERY different than in America. So much so that much of the time comparisons are pretty much useless.

Yeah, makes sense. I cannot wait to see this film. Next year is so far away but at the same time it'll be here before you know it.

That's an amazing piece of artwork but, the Ruliweb page it's on only talks about how the movie made over US$2 million. I don't think that would appear in the Anime anyway but maybe a poster

And by this time you all know that the movie did well. Taking #1. But I kind of find it interesting in the numbers in Japan -vs- over here. I mean a animated movie can pull in $2 mil and that's good compared to here. If a movie made $2 mil here it's too low. It has to pull in at least almost $100 mil during the first week. Like 'Transformers' took in $70+ mil the first week. 'Rebuild took in $2.??+ mil the first week. I just find it interesting in the numbers.

The visual changes look great...! At least in some scenes anyway. Others I felt the original was better.

I guess they decided to add glowing green bands to EVA-01 for a bit of realism in the night scenes. You shouldn't be able to see the whole mecha in detail in the dark after all

If Shamshel blows up in a rain of blood instead of being retreived intact then NERV won't have aquired a working S2 Engine to attempt and fail to install on unit 4. As a result the US branch of NERV may not be consumed by the sea of Dirac. Which means that unit 4 may survive. Taking this into consideration I'd assume the new character is likely it's pilot. Maybe we'll get lucky and she can die instead of Touji.

Also with three new useable units maybe Kensuke will finally get his chance to be a pilot. Though it does seem amusing that the only one screwed up enough to WANT to pilot isn't allowed to.

Touji does survive in the anime but is never heard from again other than, at one point, Kensuke mentions going to visit him in the hospital. In the manga however he is killed outright which makes a fair bit more sense. He might as well have died in the anime for all the effect he had on the plot after being injured,

I think he wasn't killed outright in the TV show because Gainax wasn't ready for Shinji to go completely insane. And anyway, he wasn't even suppose to be seriously injured in the original script; the idea to sever one of his legs was a last-second decision when the cells were being painted.

Nah, I wouldn't want to watch the camcorded version. But gotta admit I can't wait to see this!
