It would add more drama is Madoka's wish to revive Mami came at the cost of another's life. Just like someone else's previous theory that wishing you were a billionaire meant taking the money from someone else.

Wow this is some serious man, I mean we are only 1 and a half days in from the episode airing and we already have 244 posts. By the time episode 4 comes in we might hit 1000. We'll need a sub-forum for each episode.

EDIT: My bad, I just checked and it turns out R2 was even more insane 2 years ago.

I was surprised as well

This episode clearly sparked something in all the viewers to get this episode to have so many posts and enlighten so much discussion.

Well... a character like Mami normally has to die/become evil/disappear but i thought she would atleast had an epic death saving the girls or something like that by the ep 8~9, not by some random witch at ep 3 D=

Homura did warn that this witch was different then the others, but yeah pretty random.. I still go with what all the other fans are predicting will happen next episode.

I am not sure if these have been mentioned or not. After rewatching, I found the witch was really strong, perhaps too strong for Mami even if she is prepared.

The witch can molt several times, meaning one must kill her several times to really finish her (at least five times are shown). And also her speed of revival is very fast, thus one must have a way to dodge or attack her again. Both Mami's weapons have little use against her. The string/ribbon is shown useless to contain the revived witch and the musket is only good for one shot.

Even if Homura finishes the witch (seemingly) effortless, it doesn't mean the witch is weak nor Mami can win if she is more careful.

I hope Mami isn't wished back. I think it would cheapen her demise if that happened.
Then again, it could all be a bit Monkey's Paw if that happened.

The story is a classic example in literature of 'being careful what you wish for', and I got a very strong feeling of that from this episode.

Well, I knew this coming. Never trust Urobuchi. He always lies and even if it is true, it will be distorted in some serious extent.

and, a lot of thing was better in this episode. Supernatural mind fuck battle scene finally started looking good. Everything about this episode was so creepy and so did that ending theme. I'm pretty sure the reason that they didn't show ending for the first two episodes are all for this moment.

It's amusing that the monster in this series looks kind of silly and likes it is from cartoon network. But it's actually deadlier than most monsters in other series. At least, it can actually kill someone while many others can only scratch the protagonist even if they look much cooler.

Anyone else notice that, immediately after the witch popped like a balloon and got destroyed by Homura, some 'chunks' of something fell down and plopped down in front of Homura, who then made a grunting noise and looked away?

Anyone else get the feeling that these are 'chunks' of ...... Mami?

The witch that got popped in episode 2 left nothing but a Grief Seed plus the trajectory of these 'chunks' compared to the explosion of the witch doesn't match. Wow, I wonder if there will be an uncensored version of this?

If you watched that moment carefully, the "chunk" almost had a human shape. This show wasn't censored to begin with. A more detailed version is prob not needed.

I prefer to keep the horror aspect to have a psychological level as well. Deliberately showing the parts will remove that part away.

as expected, the char that acts as the mentor/master/senpai will most likely die, throughout the whole eps, Mami was talking like a typical char that will die soon...

but in this settings, she still has a possiblity to be revived via one of the wishes (Madoka?)

i have to say this a good eps, the girls thinking about the wishes seriously, the fighting (especially Mami's ones), the ever-smiling pet (i think it may be evil), the death and the dark feeling behind the cute faces
