There was a video going around when the first series aired with Wakamoto doing a voiceover for the season one OP. I don't know much about the guy, but I'm guessing he probably finds this sort of thing amusing.
Also, I want back and checked. "Cyclone" was said with a different intonation each time, so it wasn't just a single recording. He must have actually said it each time.

Don't know much. I've heard him here and there. I know his voice is considered practically legendary, although I believe that's mostly due to things he's done that I haven't watched. Certainly he's been... impressively overdramatic in most of the cases I've encountered his voice. I just don't tend to follow voice actors much, and male voice actors even less. My point by mentioning that I didn't know much about him was that I didn't know enough about his personality to know for certain whether he'd find doing this sort of bit part (the voice of a vacuum cleaner that only says a single word) to be amusing or not, but I guessed that he probably would.

Maybe now Nyaruko would tone down her aggressiveness. It is not helping her relationship with Mahiro.

Nyarko W 06 - A's Theory/The Fire Sisters Are a Battlefield
Romance-heavy episodes are usually fairly light on references, and even lighter on toku references. But this still had some good ones. I think this is the first time Chu2Koi has gotten a reference in an anime. And the whole "Kuroko" sequence with Shantak and the two Kurokos was highly amusing. Though not the first time I've seen that joke. And that speech and bedroom scene in the second half... Nyarko even goes over the top when it comes to confessions and making up. Great voice acting from Kana Asumi, though. She carried that scene with all the necessary emotion for it to work. Buuuuuut. I'm not sure about trapping Cuune behind a door that she can't escape from. She is a Lovecraftian deity, so I'm sure she can break out, but that's a wee bit of a cruel and unusual punishment. She'll be back. Maybe. But first, beach episode! |

Fun episode. Nyarko was, for the second time in the series, soooo close to getting a clue. But being herself, she woke up in the morning having lost it in her sleep.
My favorite bit was the Ring of Eibon: Clark Ashton Smith is my favorite Mythos author, so it was nice to get a shout-out to him ("The Beast of Eibon" is one of his better Averoigne stories, besides), but also the "lose SAN points at the end of the chapter" gag is simultaneously a reference to Valkyrie Profile, one of my favorite videogame series. ...if it hadn't been for a comment on CR, I'd have totally missed that Kuuko's crepe was a reference to the cast names in Sorcerer Hunters, though. Nyarko's costume in the bedroom scene looks familiar as all heck, but I can't place it. Anyone with more anime-geek cred than me know what it is? Mahiro's mom telling Shanta-kun about her engagement and wedding was very cute, plus appropriate for Mother's Day!
