Earth normally tries to control every aspect of life in the colonies and the colonians want more freedom. Or somesuch, but that´s the main aspect of it in most stories of this kind.

I don't see the resemblance between Macross and Gundam in their respective treatment of colonies. Rebellions in Macross are usually started by the Zents, the traditional enemies and allies of humanity, which btw, is something most 'humans' expect to happen once in a while. And never mind that Zents have a majority in terms of population

Moreover, most colonies are launched from Earth with the government's blessings. It is clear, by 2059 that they are opting for a Federation system, and with no two same colonies at any given time, I find it difficult for them to suddenly all unite and rebel against Earth. While Earth on the other hand, is expecting nothing more than expansion out of those colonies, not exploitation.

i've noticed the NUNS are not using the old Logo anymore the red circle and a paper plane in the middle. It has been the trademark of macross. Why isn't it showing up anymore, legal issues perhaps?

Socialism doesn't work. History has shown that. It's only a matter of time before a country that embraces Socialism, will collapse under it's own weight.

And the U.S. is not a true democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

Bleh but this is enough of my rant on politics.

Aww hell who wants to live on Earth anymore anyway.

At the rate of emmigration especially with those Island cluster type NMC.

In Macross Plus colony disputes and rogue Zentradi were listed as reasons why the replacement of the VF-11 Thunderbolt were being pushed through.

But so far the only trouble we've seen in Macross locally are rogue Zentradi like those Nousjadeul-Ger/Quadralunn hybrid power suits which Isamu owned, Quadraluuns which ambushed Pink Pecker Squadron, those poachers and arms dealers in Dynamite 7.

The worst thing that has happened recently was Wilbur Garland's coup attempt of the UN in VFX-2.

Worse their VF-11 Thunderbolts are colored pink.

This squad was composed of Ray, Stephan and hot blooded Kinryu.

Kinryu took out Gepelnitch's flagship's main gun in blaze of glory during the Protodevlin war. While singing Tosugeki Love Heart.

Hey, new era, new flag, new boss

It has nothing to do with legal issues. Besides, Mac Zero was produced by the same company.

Macross F has been great so far, and things in Ep 16 do pressure me to request Ep 17 asap.

Finally caught up with the air rate of MF btw. Tried to preserve some for the weekend in case i need some animes to inspire my mood, but the temptation killed my plan -_-'

Couldn't believe that i read all 20 pages of this thread through.

Gave this Ep a 10/10. Part of this was because I found the space battle was strangely dramatic. It's not "Die, die creatures" like back in Eps 1, 3 or 7 anymore as i was hoping more information about Vajra to be explored. Otherwise i will feel pity for Vajra to be both played around by Grace and a bonus to be slaughtered by SMS in the same time.

Furthermore if Ranka's song is really a gift from those Vajra; and Ranka sung it in distracting them to be slaughted off, there is a chance that next time Frontier got assaulted, the "peace song" that everyone depend on will prove useless. That's when the swamp of Vajra took their chance for revenges.

But isn't it great how Vajra has been portrayed such a bloodthirsty creatures (the little one is still keeping its secret identity as i remember) up to the point that it would shock the audiences if they realise the heroes they cheered for since the start have always been the "half-bad guys"

If I do not make a wrong guess:
overnumbered Varja + the abolish UN law in using of reaction weapons + the "overpowered" Aimo-distracting song + bad guys behind the government curtain
= Frontier is going to(or will nearly be) be screwed up big time.

But then Vajra is more mercy than human (or lack intelligent to take so much revenge) so it will still be good ending. The theme of "universe is big enough to be home for more than 1 race (Ep 13) will be brought up again eventually.

PS: The only reason that i do not mention how awesome Sheryl is in this post is because i read 20 last pages, don't want to repeat

Ok, since the post above me talked about it. I believe Vajras are the descendants of something Linn Mimay produced.

*I can feel angst in the force*

I guess I just can't help feel a little annoyed when the characters become just puppets for the plot... we can't help it given that this is in the end an instance of a mecha series, but still...

Aw well, irritated Alto manages to climb some more ranks in my hate list. I just hope they make Ranka hesitation into something that helps her grow as a character instead of something that makes her devolve into a self righteous puppet. As for Sheryl... she is pretty much a wild card right now. I just hope she takes out her anger in a constructive way, because the alternatives of becoming a catatonic victim or a vengeful wench are not really appealing. Fortunately if they do things neither of the two should happen.

Other than that, the graphics, OST and insert songs continue to be as strong as ever, and the supporting cast as dull as ever.

What is your main problem with Alto, if I may ask? I actually think he is one of the best mecha series protagonists we´ve seen in a long while, with his distinct lack of being a totally traumatized emo.

Although he could be less screamy when in a fighter jet and a bit more decisive with women, those are my only pet peeves with him. Otherwise, I find him a very good protagonist.

I dislike people that are too emotional, a lot. Be it in Anime or in real life. Specially people that just jump to attack everyone that dares touching their buttons and start screaming for revenge at the slightest provocation. Not to mention he is a wishy washy tsundere. That is, your "although" section pushes all the wrong signals in my list.

Interesting...because I thought the problem with Alto was that he wasn't emotional ENOUGH...or at least, that he didn't communicate his emotions very well.

So yeah, he flies off the handle at all the wrong people, but then he's tight-lipped and unexpressive to the people who care about him.

None of this means I dislike Alto, really. It's just how he is, and it's interesting to see him break out of his shell, at least a bit.

He's emotional enough alright, he just doesn't know how to convey it that and goes exploding at all the wrong places and keeping it inside when he needs to express what he's feeling.

That's actually a pretty accurate way of describing Alto. This is probably my biggest gripe when it comes to Alto's character but I still found him to be pretty interesting.
