Considering the main naval weapon of war today is the submarine, the new Japanese carriers are designed to fight said submarines.

In other words, as an ASW carrier. And don't even think about having a F-35Bs on them, unless someone give them a hot potatoes on their bare hands.

Besides, they had to designate Izumo as a "helicopter destroyer" to avoid breaching the treaty that restrict JMSDF to green-water navy while having an incentive to hide its carrier nature. Not to mention Atago-class was designated as a guided-missile destroyer (DDG) while some locals, ironically, call it a "cruiser".

Tanaka-san spotted on scene in the Chinese Phoenix news feed in the anticipation of Kaga's launch

It is suspected that the Izumo-class may be able to field the STOVL variant of the F-35 should Japan choose to buy them.

Considering it's shape, wouldn't it be simple enough to install the necessary equipment to launch conventional aircraft? Or are there a lot of other factors to consider?

Yet they never answered this question, however. Nor did they intended to carry fixed-wing VTOL aircraft in design. For now, it's expecting to function like France's Mistral as far as the technical description stated, but not as a LHA as it don't carry armored vehicles.

PS: My bad. It was the Article 9 of its constitution, not the San Francisco treaty that restricted JMSDF to green-water navy.

Just an idle thought, I wonder what would its insignia be like. Izumo's was based around the legend of the Yamata no Orochi which took place in Izumo Province =3

Wouldn't it be awesome if they used a profile shot of Kaga-chan from the game? (Or the anime, Kaga looks good in both)

Would it be a stretch if they use a dog as Kaga's emblem, since Toshiie Maeda of the Maeda clan who ruled over the former Kaga province is often called "dog" in contrast to Hideyoshi "Monkey" Toyotomi.

Earlier on we have Akagi-san making a cameo on the USS Ronald Reagan. Now we have the JMSDF military band playing "Nisuisen no kōseki" (二水戦の航跡, 5-4 route theme) on 14 Oct (yesterday!), and during an official performance no less =3

Spoiler for At Yokosuka:

Add-on (19 Oct 2015): Joining their colleagues, "Hiryuu no Hangeki" (飛龍の反撃) by the Kure band:
Spoiler for Kure:

I wonder what the words " give it back" that were whispered after the battle of MI. Also they had that one fleet girl who sank her hair pin came floating up. Also there is the mention of something stronger trying to repeat history. I wonder if they are signs of something darker to come.

For instance what if said girl returned from the grave as an enemy.

When you are bored you start wondering about the most ridducous things... Here is one:
Do you think CV 65 as a shipgirl would eat fuel or uranium?Or just Bauxite and Ammo? ?

Just Bauxite and Ammo. Unlimited range for her cost.....probably twice or more consumption than Kaga. But an air group that would be unprecedented. If USS Midway was rated for 120 planes of the era....CVN 65 would be what...160 planes?

Footage of Saki Fujita and Otsubo Yuka playing Kancolle Arcade...

EDIT: Damn, the arcade is good. Very good. You can actually control your ship and the course of battle.
If it got imported here, I think I'll spend most of my income on this arcade...

This certainly looks interesting, the players can exchange Kanmusu @ card they own, perhaps. Would gonna try it if it's imported to either MY & SG.

Already could see some guys being hospitalised for playing that arcade game all day...

But without being able to connect to the internet, it will be extremely hard to have event with arcade machine? But they had to be all connecting to the web for the game to be able to read the card data right?

Yeah don't know how these machine works in Japan

Most arcade games in japan are connected to a server, otherwise mundane things like ranking for fighting games would be impossible to synchronize.

Kanmusu and so forth are not tied with the cards but on the account.

Hmm, I thought the card is needed to put your formation.
Hence a semi gacha arcade like Aikatsu.

I'm certain it will eventually be ported to big consoles like the idolm@ster was. And will most probably be either region locked or unlocalized (because of the stupid feminists).
