Well, to be sure, it's an easy way out and you don't have to spend hours comforting the person when he/she comes to you seeking opinion on their feelings or action...

Yes it is. I usually give up and not comfort at all.

I'm one of those really nit picky people that consider that lying and do not differentiate 'white lies'. And I don't like to lie. I'm not a good friend when it comes to seeking comfort. I'm more of a practical friend who either has a solution or doesn't.

My mother comforts me by laughing at me. She doesn't say this but the general tone is like "PFFFT what the hell is that, grow some balls" like when I had a $3000 debt from a tuition payment error and got put on hold and had the collections agency after me. Because i grew up with that kind of advice, it really comforts me because she makes things seem like not a big deal.

I have been told that I suck at comforting because I usually tell the situation as it is rather than downgrading the problem.

Comfort by laughing? Haha, I actually agree with such approach, because I use it on myself. When shit happens, I laugh at myself and says, "Oh hell, you fail epicly". In life, we will definitely experience problems, and if we don't grow some balls and laugh at it, it's going to be tough. I would rather be my own clown than having someone else do it for me.

Don't mince your words like pink slime, because you need to douse it with ammonia [to kill whatever thing that is deemed harmful in it], and it is going to STINK Like urine. If you consider LFTB to be edible, please consume it yourself; don't force that disgusting ersatz other people's throat.
Me getting annoyed at some puritan who kept nitpicking at the "offensive words" in my friend's sentences on Skype and keep suggesting "alternative vocabulary". As I thought, he doesn't know what LFTB is.

Orientals must be kept in their native East till the fall of the white race. Sooner or later a great Japanese war will take place...The more numerous Chinese are a menace of the still more distant future.
- H.P Lovecraft, 1919.

If You Meet The Buddha On The Road, Kill Him.

Love this because it's very symbolic. I grew up listening to my grandpa preaching about this

"Is god willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is impotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then is he malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Whence then is evil?" -David Hume

A quote I like because it illustrates one of the reasons why I have a problem with the concept of the abrahamic god.

"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." -Carl Sagan

Because Carl Sagan does motivating like few others. :P
