More popular Gundam series spoon fed you the story and the meaning of everything. Code Geass has 'other services' that sell DVDs... I'd also say that while its story is deep its a lot more fantastical than 00s which is another + in fan base.

Seems like 00 is an attempt at a more down to earth (with big unrealistic robots) Gundam... for better or worse.

after seeing those list of rankings it still shows that 5-6 yrs later that GS & GS characters are still in those lists.

& really with lacus being very dominating in most of those lists during the the yearms maybe it's a matter of time to call her queen of female anime characters of 2000s decade.

Doraemon doesn't sell DVDs... Kids don't have the money to buy them.

The top two are Evangelion and the original Gundam (I made a mistake though, it should be top three in all media, including DVD, VHS and LD). GSD is probably #1 or #2 in DVD since the other two have more in VHS and LD sales.

Oricon has Gundam 00 Vol. 3 coming in at #5 on the overall DVD chart and #1 on the anime DVD chart. Info from 2ch says it sold 25,135 copies.

However, for a franchise such as Gundam, the DVD sales aren't as much of an indicator of success than the model kit sales. For Bandai, long after the DVDs have been off the shelves, continued sales of that series' model kits is what they're looking at.

Mobile Suit Gundam's mobile suits continue to dominate the Gundam market even after 30 years. The MG Acguy was the most heavily demanded MG restock item of 2006 according to Bandai's' supply figures.

Ummmmmmmm, I was talking about Sayla...............why in this God's world would you think I was talking about Lacus? Obviously, the majority of the voters were indeed thinking of character depth rather than which of them looked the hottest/cutest, or there wouldn't be so many old Gundam characters (with their much older animation quality designs) in such high places in that ranking, much less the oldest of them in first place..........

No. DVDs are just as large an indicator of success as model kits. They are two different revenue streams. The success of MSG TV's DVD sales helped boost Bandai's profits quite heftily, for example, just like Gunpla typically does.

And at ￥6000 a pop, shows that are successful on DVD are MUCH more profitable than shows that are successful with Gunpla.

Yeah, as stated, that's really low compared to Seed/Seed Destiny, which sold an average of 50-60K copies per volume in their first weeks out.

Lacus came in second, only 300 votes behind. I doubt people were voting based on character depth, they probably just polled some of the older fanbase too.

More like the legions of First Gundam/OYW fans in Japan that clearly favor the original over anything else there dominated the poll... Sayla was essentially the heroine of First Gundam after all, and First Gundam fans clearly outnumber those of the rest of the other series in Japan nowadays...

Makes sense that she didn't beat Sayla, she's like THE original Gundam heroine. Only problem I see is no Rain on there, I call shenanigans. Other than that it looks good, especially because The Abomination aka Nina Purpleton is nowhere to be seen.
