I wonder what the plagiarised tracks are, I'm thinking the Android/Terminator theme but that was released a year ago or so.

Wow, yes, according to that PDF admitting their guilt, it looks like they will also refrain from using the plagerized tracks. I know there's that one track that sounds like Terminator, though amusingly I didn't know it was from Terminator until I heard it in Kai.

It's a shame they can't work out a compromise, though. Dragonball seems to me an homage to Western culture almost as much as to the original Chinese legend it's based on.

I'm looking at the dub on the cw and the music is the old japanese music...... I like it still but I like the Kai ost better

So even the new episodes have Kikuchi's tracks in them now, though the placement has changed. I must admit I miss the DBKai soundtrack, but at least we had it for a long while.

Kikuchi's track sounds very friendly and cute. Just like our little hero.

He really needed Goku & Vegeta though. So those oldtimers prove their worth.

Seconded. I only watched a little of the dub, then jumped straight to following Kai every week so it felt really weird too.

To me this one is the true and usual BGM. Having been watching Dragonball since the beginning I didn't like the new BGM so this episode was especial to me. A true Dragonball episode

The point of Kai was to do a retelling of the manga, and keeping the original score would keep reminded people of the original adaptation, which wasn't the point.

With that in mind, i'm not pleased at all regarding the original score being used, though it's totally understandable why it had to be done. I'm kinda glad Kai is ending in a few weeks now, because if this carried on then it wouldn't be the Kai that i've enjoyed so much upto now.

I thought the music fit nicely. I like the original Kai soundtrack better than the Z track, but I actually thought the old tunes kinda fit this episode particularly well. And this was a great episode of course, I really like the final collaboration that gave Gohan an opening to vaporize Cell.
