Well, sales of the BD/DVDs may have gone down since season 1, but at least DAL is popular enough to get on the monthly Newtype Top Ten Series rankings. Tohka, and I believe Shidou as well, have also been on the Top Ten character rankings a few times during the season 1 and 2 runs.

Let's not forget that I was delighted when Shido was in the #1 spot last year, since season 1 began. The reason of him being that popular was somewhat questionable back then.

if I remember correctly he got top 3 at the end of DAL S2 last month having action scenes w/ him certainly helped him alot

He's also one of the few main characters of the harem genre that know the girls like him since that is, well, his job. That's probably one positive. Though his lack of pursuing a relationship with them after he makes them fall is a little concerning.

Well he can't really pursue a relationship with any of the girls, as that would cause the girls he's not showing any interest in to get, jealous which is something he has to work to avoid, since the girls getting jealous is very bad.

True... that is a horrible side-effect. Though what I meant was, it's like he has no interest. Sure you get a few Tohka-Shidou moments, plus moments with the other girls in the short stories, but most of the time he gets into an embarrassing situation, blushes, then brushes it off like nothing happened. It's kinda awesome, but at the same time, somewhat worrying.

The sad fact is: no only he can't pursue a relationship with any of the spirits, but he can't do that with any girls regardless the species.

If he try with a girl(Human) outside the group of spirits will cause the Armageddon.

The problem is that he can't continue like this forever, he need to make a choice one day.

Let's hope that when that day come he makes the right choice.

Ah, yes. It was expected since he turned badass in DAL2.

Not to mentioned he proved himself to be the manliest harem lead for standing in front of a naked girl with no sign of embarrassment, which was a big bonus.

There's also an ending where Ratatoskr uses some sort of political pull to legalize polygamy in Japan. Bribing officals, Kotori rising through the government when she gets older, or even a simple "legalize it or the spirits might get upset and lose control of their powers". They have any number of ways they could do it. Considering they would have known from the beginning that the situation would end with Shidou having at least ten lover, they should have some sort of plan ready.

They will grow. Kotori continued to grow even after she became a spirit, so the other spirits will probably continue to grow as well.

Huh? Volume 10 is already out. And volume 11 should be out in September. There's no official word yet, but that's how the releases have been going for DAL the past couple years.
