And I think that last part's where the problems lie. Even the good translators get into such a rhythm of translating meaning over language, since Japanese and English are such different languages sometimes, that those dry "edges" one usually tries to avoid are "sanded off" of the translation, when the author may have put them in intentionally.

Still a very good translation.

Still a very good translation.

But it does sound like a good idea for a doujinshi. Tsukuyomi wants to take Negi and marry him (or is it rape before death)

Chapter 290 was pretty interesting. It humanized Fate who previously came off as cold and ruthless even though the orphans mentioned that he had saved them. I certainly didn't expect Fate to have a sense of humor, a somewhat morbid one, but a sense of humor nonetheless or for him to get so angry once Tsukuyomi suggested that she take Negi for herself. Interesting bit of character development.

Oh, I don't think Fate wouldn't mind . It's the girls who would probably object . At least, for a while

All joking aside, I don't think Fate should be forgiven of all his misdeeds just because he 'loves' Negi, at least not forgiven enough to join Negi's harem. I smell an incoming Draco In Leather Pants here. If anything, Kotaro would be much more deserving... although by now it's mostly clear Kotaro doesn't exactly swing that way.

Chapter 291 really makes me wonder what the theme of the "be yourself" is. (Lol so cliched)
At the beginning of the series, we see an innocent boy.
Then as it progresses, we start to see him becoming more and more sadistic as he faces off against Willheim and Chao.
In the Magic World, he pushes the polarity even further into the Darkness.
And here, he suddenly resolves to rely on his friends. In Negimaverse, that's the Light side.

I'm just not making any connection here.
Is it perhaps the advice from his father prompts him not to be so hellbent on solving things on his own anymore?
Or is he somehow opting to combine light and dark?
Or is the super fast pacing not giving Ken opportunity to explain stuff?

Yuna's gun i'm thinking is more likely related to her Mom (aka mom's former weapon) given how they keep bring it up recently. If anything I'm expecting one of the unshown minions of Fate will be her killer at this rate.
