how do you guys make the little lines in your sigs and avatars?? like in my avatar that dieki made...you see little white lines in it. i dont know how to explain. or like in raiju's sig

i made another sig of souseiseki [ppl were talking about rozen maiden here and it just so happens that a friend of mine has the dvd of it as well!yay!] for myself b/c i was really bored. i think the font is too...light...er something. can someone suggest a type of font that IYO is better fit?
