Well as I predicted Venus beat Serena, I didn't actually get to see much of this match but Serena apparently also played well.

All that's left is my second prediction.

I actually think the rivalry between Federer and Nadal makes the men's tennis more boring than the woman's. Both of them are great players and their matches are always a beautiful match of tennis. However with the women you don't always get a A vs B final. It's not always Sharapova or Ivanovic or Jankovic, etc in the final.

Should still be a good match. This Wimbledon I'm actually paying more attention to the men's since the women's final was between the Williams sister's. I'm hoping Nadal can win and take all 4 majors this year.

Nadal can't win all 4 majors this year. Djokovic has already won the Australian Open. And on the contrary the rivalry between Federer and Nadal is fantastic for mens tennis. It attracts lots of people to the sport. Two distinct character which everyone can aspire to emulate just adds to the attraction of tennis.

So Venus finally beat Serena again, well deserved, although I didn't watch it.

And while you are entitled to your opinion, there is a reason why I like the ATP tour right now a lot more. I'm not just a person who watches only the last couple rounds of Grand Slams, I watch the whole tournament. The quality of the ATP in general right now is wonderful. On the other hand the quality of the WTA players today is downright awful. We are currently in a dark age of women's tennis that is clouded by all the good looking bodies out there

. But really, the era of Graff, Nartinalova, and so on was much much better quality. What happened is I think all the players tried to copy Seles and her power hitting, problem is they make errors all the time unlike Seles.

Anyway..... In regards to tomorrow's final...

A majority of sports experts are predicting Nadal so if you want an underdog to win, Federer actually kind of qualifies as one

Although I honestly don't think Roger Federer is an underdog...winning so many straight deserves you some respect doesn't it?

Ah, my bad, thanks for the correction kakashi-san.

I'm not an avid tennis fan. I just started to get into tennis not to long ago, so I can't compare previous generations to current generations. I prefer a wide range of competition. It provides more excitement when you see different players not only win, but compete.

It's why golf started to bore me a while back. With only Tiger dominating every tournament, the result became predictable. Now is a different story, but the same can be said for Federer and Nadal. They showed the rankings the other day and besides Djokovic the rest were so far off the pace.

Don't get me wrong though. Federer and Nadal both play beautiful tennis and they'll both play a great match. It's just that I find it more entertaining when the final of a tournament isn't 80% guaranteed.

No problem. I get what you mean. Problem is it's almost certain Federer will always reach the final of every major and the only person that has a chance to beat him is Nadal, so people usually vouch for Nadal to get to the finals. As soon as Federer lost the French people started trying to spark controversy saying Federer is finished as a tennis player. Of course this is was bound to happen eventually. Even if it's stupid to say such a thing, it adds an element of uncertainty to the game that was never there before.

I mean both Roger and Rafa talk to eachother a lot in the locker rooms, they are good friends and both have huge respect for eachother. It's just amusing to watch how quickly people critique someone who's been at the top for so long.

But anyway the much anticipated finals are imminent, Grit versus Flow. Lets hope we see a great match and let the best man win.

Federer if up 5-4 right now in the third, I hope he can pull it off and make this a 5 setter come back. He's playing great until he gets to those break points, then he just dumps his backhands... It is really sad. He's so mentally weak against Nadal.

Federer finally gets a breather thanks to this rain. I won't say anything else so as not to jinx the result.

Besides that, when was the last time Federer was ever 2 sets down in Wimbledon?

Rain's stopped from what I saw on the TV screen, commentator says it'll take about 10-20 mins to get things back in order.

What. A. Match.

Rain has for the second time suspended play. This year it will be the last time play in Centre Court has been interrupted by rain, as the retractable roof there will be up and ready by next year.

Anyway, an incredible 4th set tie-break, Federer saving 2 Championship Points to tie 2 sets-all. And now we have the deciding 5th set that everyone wanted. Whoever wins this match, this is already a great game. Better than last year.

The first rain certainly helped Federer collect his thoughts and he regained his momentum, will this second rain do the same for Nadal?

And as it's 8pm in London right now, even when this rain is over, it's highly unlikely the match will be finished tonight due to lack of sunlight. (Wimbledon doesn't rely on floodlights like the Aussie and US Open. ) This means it will be the first time since 2001 when a Wimbledon final has been extended to a third Monday.

Nadal played the best match of his life. Ever. Congratulations to Rafael Nadal and comisarations to Roger Federer. It was really weird watching someone else lift the Wimbledon trophy. But fitting for Roger to push Nadal to literally do inhuman things. Roger was the lucky one last year, Rafa is the lucky one this year.

Nadal knows Roger is better on grass. But his sheer mental intensity is incredible, his belief. Just wow.

I agree with you except the bolded part. Nadal was unlucky in having hit by nerves in the 4th set tie-breaker and squandered two Championship Points. Besides, the first rain interrupted Rafa's 2-set lead momentum to allow Federer back to 2-2.

So luck only played some part, it was more to do with mental grit that Rafa got through the disappointment of the 4th set tie-breaker and go on to win this.

Federer was flawless as well, but he obviously looked tired near the end. But he can have no regrets after winning 5 in a row and will be back for

This means Nadal has finally beaten Federer on grass, and what a place to win it. Now no one can dismiss Rafa as merely a "Clay Grand Slam Specialist", especially the way he has won it. He has now become the first man since Bjorn Borg in 1980 to win Roland Garros and Wimbledon back-to-back in the same year.

And what a great week for Spain as well, after the football team won Euro 2008, now there's a Spanish champion in Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
